I’d go for a knock out preliminary thing - let those sides who are never ever gonna qualify have a knock out stage or two or a group or two of their own and the winners then join the proper qualifier games - think non league, leagues 1+2 and then the third round of the F.A. Cup.
Small teams have something to play for, the qualifiers have far less meaningful games.
But we're still to slow to break forrad at times we've had a few turnovers and not exploited them, by not getting the ball forward fast enough, both Spain and Portugal were very quick in attack, we've been all Southgate far too often.

We got gifted a goal by a keeper fumble.
Senegal have had some very decent chances and taken one
Oh the Gordon chance but Senegal could have more than the one.
Henderson earning his coin

We'd just reached another major final. Yes there were flaws, but the basic structure was there. It merely needed tweaking.
But Tuchel's almost trying to start from square one.
We seem to be going backwards...

Yes backwards , then sideways, then to the keeper then pass around the defence then back to keeper ETC ETC

And showing no signs of any structure to our play, no style or direction we seem to be heading in, ..
Fair enough these games are pretty one of a formality and now a pointless friendly played after a long season has finished, but if the Senegalese can put in a shift, why can't we??

I'm a fully paid up member of the gerrit forrad club. No good fannying around in defence wasting time.

Like I've already said .. Senegal can be bothered ( after a 50/60 game season for many of them in the same Premier league) so why can't we be bothered...
At least Tuchel isn't letting me down, I thought it was a bad appointment.. he's done nothing to change my mind so far
