I think we also have to remember how he broke through to create that opportunity

Yes, he missed it but he also created it and probably ended up a little off balance in doing so.

Every striker misses chances but I doubt either Grigg or Madden would have created that one for themselves even in their younger days.

As such, he is something different to what we’ve already got and is young enough to develop further.

You assume he will want to be somewhere where he thinks he's going to be a likely starter. I wonder if our formation and the likelihood that Will Grigg will likely start 75% of league games if fit will count against our chances.
