1,3 & 4 align with much of what I know. Grimes also agreed a new deal + expecting a couple of those who triggered deals to depart + a couple under contract to be made surplus to requirements. Names all touted on here already so no real suprises..

Sheckleford, Madden & Hobson to be surplus to requirements?

Thought Grimes had already triggered an extension? Can’t see us offering anything on top of that surely

I’m not enthused about fleck but he hasn’t played much had no pre season and could come back better, he could also be over the hill but it’s not a certainty
ITS NOT THE WINNING,ITS THE TAKING APART

Nothing triggered. Club / Cook offered a year and all indications are he’s signed it. I believe he’s the only one whose wage was matched from last season. The rest all offered reductions.

I don’t mind it personally. He’s clearly respected throughout the club. He’s not daft either so he’ll understand his game time will be much more limited this coming season. Checkatrade games & matchday sub you would anticipate.

Few bits doing the rounds this evening that we signed a player yesterday. Haven’t managed to get a name though.

I would assume his attitude around the squad, especially for younger players,is worth a further year regardless of game time?

You wouldn't have needed to see many of our games this season to realise that our CM lacks both pace, height and physicality. Although Flecky is clearly comfortable on the ball, he doesn't solve the obvious weaknesses.

It actually annoys me how much hammer Grimes gets, it’s as if it’s the in & trendy thing to do to slate him. But the reality is, as a squad player in L2, he’s more than good enough and I actually think retaining him is a smart move by Cook. His pro’s outweigh the neg’s when looking at him as a squad player e.g. positives being Always fit & available which is huge as proven last season, Attitude is second to none so won’t be a trouble cause if not playing much, leadership qualities, experienced, very good in the air, left footed which Cook loves for balance… negatives being that yes he has mistakes in him at times, but tbh what player that’s happy/willing to be a squad player in a L2 side doesn’t?

As I say, as a regular starter it’s a no from me, but as a squad player that’s 3rd or 4th choice then I don’t mind it at all.

Looked very good playing that role later in the season as well, actually made a difference in games he’s come on in.

Suspect Grimes wage didn’t a lot compared to most plus the fact he’s left footed gives him an edge over others.

Who did look well in the playoffs??, we were well off it as a team, infact we were well off it in all 4 games against Walsall last season, they were just better than us, worked their socks off, denied us space, resulting in us being far too slow and negative in possession... but in plenty of other games Fleck showed he still has the quality to be a valuable asset at this level, and as has been said, with the run of games at the end of the season, and a full pre-season we should hopefully see a much different player again next season...

Jamie Grimes is a decent stand in for league two, and sometimes when he came on for Macfadzean, he actually improved the defence. Playing in a deeper lying set up, I think Grimes would be one of the best left sided centre backs in league two.

Quite a few triggered an offer/extension. Not many have actually signed / agreed though yet, as we could technically offer them £1 a week if we don’t need them, but are contractually obliged to offer them something.

Like mentioned, a fair few who triggered a deal have been offered reduced terms, knowing they likely will look elsewhere as a result.

Also believe our first deal of the summer is done.

Potential for us, definitely. I don't see him as a future Premier League player though.

I doubt he'd sustain a career at Championship level tbh

Is that right mate? You can’t jus stay ‘Naa we don’t want you cheers for everything’

Think I misread, players had clauses that meant they have to be offered something?

A new player or a player from last year that’s signed?

I would have thought an option would be to extend the current contract at the same wage. Otherwise what hold has a club on a player if the option meant the player in fact could be offered less?
Dr Google says this:
Contract options give a club the right to extend a player's contract for a specific period after its initial expiry.
This extension is unilateral, meaning the player doesn't have the option to decline the extension.
The option must be exercised by the club before a predetermined date, often a few months before the original contract ends.

I would suspect it all comes down to how it’s all worded on the contract and there isn’t one standard clause across them all.
