I agree. I’d love to see them do well, sustainably- they could feasibly exist at NLN level as clubs of their size do. However, I just can’t see how anyone buys the story their current owner is selling. Please do enlighten me, someone.

Any truth in their alleged new GK?

On a lighter note,do we know how ticket sales are doing?

Sure I saw something earlier today saying less than 600 left. Their game v Derby has sold out.

If he drops divisions at that rate he'll be playing on Highfield Park in 5 years.

He did move up suddenly from National League South Chelmsford to League Two Notts County at one point. Perhaps nobody can decide how capable he actually is.
These go to eleven.

They're making massive signings for their status. I go and watch them often, they get better crowds than Alfreton so they could easily live in that league. But the signings are basically NLN players so maybe they're just setting out their intentions. The owner has been awful for Scunthorpe but did a half decent job for Ilkeston so quite rightly so they can enter the new season with optimism but it should also be with a small amount of fear that if it all goes t*ts up then they could find themselves in a very precarious position.
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

I don’t doubt that Matlock can start next season well on the pitch but the whole situation smells too Darren Browny to me.

Some context is required, when Hilton took over Scunthorpe in January they were stranded at the bottom of the NL miles adrift, millions in dept with a winding up order over their heads. He was there less than year and although his reign was chaotic at least they still existed. There is one man and one man alone to be blamed for Scunthorpe's demise, Peter Swann.

He bit off more than he could chew and lost his bottle. There was no criminality or desire to ruin the club.

I don't know who you are referring to Hilton or Swann?

I kind of agree. Hilton wanted to move to Gainsborough because Swann had him over a barrel after he transferred the clubs ground and training ground to one of his companies in exchange for loans. I suspect Hilton has money, god knows where from but probably not that much.

Not quite as worrying, but Wayne Bradley steps down as Alfreton chairman after 27 years. New American investors coming in.
