I'd like to see Him Pepple back here next season, but I have a feeling Luton Town will use him in League One.

I'm shocked that we have quite a few fans who don't want him back. Another year with Cook and he'd improve considerably.

I understand why some will want a proven striker of some form or another, but the costs involved could be astronomical. Bim Pepple is half way there, and as you say, another year under Paul Cook will, I'm sure make a big difference.

What's his contract situation at Luton? He refers to himself as their player but the only reference to his contact length I've found online suggests it was due to end this summer.

I am definitely in the 'love to see him back' camp.Saw him in the Rotherham game and was impressed from the start.Strong, very difficult to get off the ball, athletic, commited, still learning. Can only assume that a full pre-season wiith WG and the hand of PC on his shoulder would improve the parts of his game he is still learning, lots of potential IMO.

A fellow Spireite told me that he's signed up till 2026, but I haven't verified if he was right or not. I'd really like to see him back.

Plenty of clubs announcing signings now but technically the window isn’t open. Some of the reports seem to be along the lines of ‘Will join on 1 July’.

Can you enter into an agreement, or make a signing, but you just can’t officially register it with the FL?

Yes, like happens every year. Pro contracts are 1st July - 30th June.
Pretty much every player announcement before 1st July will have the caveat of taking effect from 1st July.

That would fit. If Luton see him as a viable option for L1 they'll keep him. If they don't, and I probably wouldn't, they'll likely be open to him moving on permanently.

I see him being an option to bring in on a permanent basis, but with Luton in free fall, I'd hazard a guess, that some of those who were regular starters in the Championship, will be on very good money, and will want to try and keep their income at that level, so Pepple may make their bench as others leave. I just hope we can get him in.

Luton will have parachute payments still from the prem. How much is that nowadays? Can't see them using pepple as they'll be looking for a quick return
Here we go again!

They’ll still be on good money if they’re still under contract

Too much like Quigley for me, too busy playing the man and getting dragged all over and not enough goals either. Sure we can do better.

Oh yes, I understand that, unless they've signed with a relegation clause in their contract. I do hope he comes our way. He's a rough cut diamond ready for Cook to polish.

Yes, parachute payments will definitely help, and I hope they get back to the Championship first time around, or they could be the next Oldham. Pepple has something about him that says there's a decent player in there. I maybe wrong though, so don't quote me on it 😉.

Hopes are high that Chey Dunkley will be back for the start of pre-season.

Nice tautology.
These go to eleven.

With Dunkley, McFadzean and Grimesy under contract for next season and terms have been offered to Ash Palmer, how do you envisage the central defensive pairing playing out, especially as we desperately need to introduce some pace into the position?
