We’ve made him an offer.

And he has better ones and he will be following us (from afar)?

Do we actually know that 100 %

I don’t blame the Kirk’s for putting caps on salaries.

Google says Dilan's Blackburn pay was £5400 a week so, yep, that's doable. If we are going for it, the number of players earning that king of money will have to increase. The extras, in terms of signing on fee and agent's cut, might make Ash Kirk gulp a bit.

Interesting times, and Cooky presumably wanting a very early decision to maximise alternative options.

I wouldn't take too much notice of what you've found online really. In any case his salary as a Championship player of the past is irrelevant now. He's unemployed and there's a new market for his signature.

That's the antithesis of what his agent will be whispering in his shell-like.

Players are coin operated things.

Pay the dollar and you get the player.
A new hope.

His next contract is an important one to him. Cook will be telling him that a good couple of years with us can mean another crack at the Championship and a big contract. We aren't his final destination but we can help him get where he wants and vice-versa.

You do know that’s roughly 20 grand a month for one player ?! Just saying

If we're paying anyone £5.4k a week the someone needs to slap the Kirks, that's ridiculous for "bottom" of L1 let alone L2

Glad you pointed that out to him apparently maths aren't his strong point, regularly claiming completing a round of golf in 54.
Derbyshire is Derbyshire
Yorkshire is Yorkshire

I have to agree. Folk on here seen to think we have won the euromillions or summit. As much as I want the like of Markandy here it has been to affordable and sustainable.

The club won't survive if we don't

Yep, Dilan is going to have to adjust his salary expectations, at least in the short term

Would you feel better if we gave him a £100k signing on fee, then £4k a week?

It's simple supply and demand in't it. I'd guess we already have at least 2 players on £4k a week. If we wait we might get a cheaper deal, but we might end up with a Tyrer situation.

I'm told Mansfield had several players on more than that in L2, and I'd think Donny, Bradfud, County, and Port Vale have similar pressures.

It’s doable in that we can afford it, but it would mean we’d have one stand out earner in the squad, and also might have to sign “lesser” players to make up the squad accordingly.

That can cause division in the dressing room, particularly if he then doesn’t deliver. (Nothing to In suggest he won’t obviously).

He, like Dobra too, would definitely be a signing with a view to a big money sale in a year or two, though, so maybe a gamble the board is willing to take?

if anyone wants to feel ill, if you account for inflation 5400 is roughly what Chris O'Grady would have been on (if the rumoured wages were correct)

That money would have been more wisely spent on coke and hookers.
