You keep going on about his ability to go missing in games but fail to name any game in which he went missing. His stats on Footmob also fail to indicate where he went missing. Perhaps you can remind me?

He never did, he was an exceptional loan player here, hence why Blackburn wanted to see how he fared at the next level. Now for whatever reason that hasn’t seemed to work out, but if he did come here then I’m sure he’d be welcomed back with open arms, and I doubt Cook would be remotely interested in resigning any player who he’d witnessed playing for him who went “missing” in games.

I wouldn’t be opposed to Markandy coming back but for me he’s a luxury player who can win a game or be anonymous for large chunks.

I don't think you give him credit for his work ethic throughout a game.

Colclough, Berry, Dobra were all accused by some folk of going missing at various points. In fact, they were playing to instructions. It's a fact that under Cook's system wide players are there to stretch defences, stay put out wide, and sometime don't get the ball for an age.

Markanday, imo, is a coach's dream.

Genuinely wonder what some of the guys on here see when they watch football - we’d have people turning down Messi in his prime because he doesn’t track back

Whilst I felt Markanday sometimes drifted out of games and an a little concerned about the average height of our team compared to others in L2 I would welcome back the Markanday we witnessed during his loan spell with us.

He has pace and upper body strength plus an eye for goal.

However, he does not appear to have done as well in L1 at Orient but that could have something to do with their style of play compared to ours.

Beyond that, I think we will most likely bring in 5 players, or so, capable of playing in L1. If we are targeting and achieve promotion next season and have handed contracts in excess of 12 months to our new recruits then they will be around for our following season in L1.

I remember at least three games where he single handedly took on the opposition and kept pushing forward without a lot of help and made a massive difference. You are probably remembering a couple of early home games when most of the team where not 'at the races'.

marakandy's close control in tight spaces is a joy to watch, i sincerely hope we get this player, he is a class act at this level.

Infamy, infamy, they’ve all got it in for me!!!

Of the loan players we’ve had this year would welcome back Markandy, possibly Pepple but would hope we can find better and take a further look at Sparkes. I think Everton would want Metcalfe to play in league one next year. Olakigbe a definite no, Araujo possibly worth another look, Thompson no.

I think there is a chance Bailey Hobson could go to Barnet, in which case that would come with a fee given he's contracted

Just spent 30 minutes watching all the goals we scored in 2024-25 that the club have put up on Youtube. We were scary good in that first portion of the season.

Stating the obvious a bit but, aside from all the injuries, losing James Berry and Markanday hurt us massively. The former may not have always been 10/10 when playing from the start but the spark we lost going forwards is evident just from that short video.

If he's perceived as 'drifted out' and that being a fault, then I don't get it. If he's in an area of the pitch where he's starved of possession and he goes hunting for the ball he upsets Cook, so he can't win.

Perhaps he's not thrived at Orient 'cos they have players who are quicker over 50 metres. That's the only criticism I can think of but it's clutching at straws.

Meanwhile, I think back to seeing Jamie Carragher's lad having to re-enter the pitch after being mesmerised by a Markanday dummy.

A great impact sub and we certainly missed his ability to run at & commit tiring defenders. When starting I didn't think he had the same impact.
I think similar can be said for colclough but maybe to a lesser degree

Perhaps he is not playing week in week out at Orient is because the manager has in mind just one position for him and he thinks he has someone better for that position. It’s not as if he could play centre or full back.

Not had a sniff at Wycombe since going there. Can see him being loaned out or even sold pre the August deadline.

Berry will end up at either Blackpool, Wigan or Bolton either on loan or permanent.

Also, interest at our end again in Eddy Jones at Altrincham plus Newby, but contract terms are still off and both will end up at Grimsby probably.
