The last we have seen of Metcalfe then. He came on leaps and bounds later in the season but sadly for me didnt score enough goals but wish him well.

Well after getting his feet under the table with quite a few starts, he'd do well to have a good old think and look how it turned out for the likes of Berry and Markanday.
I'd say if he had an option to come back and progress with us, he'd be playing a fair few games.
Personally, if Everton are looking to stick him in a L1 club, I think it might be a bit to soon and his development might be hampered.
But I'm probably bias as I think he's been very good and will only get better - with the tuition of Cook and surroundings he's become used to.

He definitely improved after spending too much time out injured, but he rarely looked dominant. Not enough of a goal threat and rather predictable in his passing, we have to assemble a better engine room next time around.

Kind words for the club is one thing, but it's a short career, so I'm thinking, he'll go for the money of league one, if there's takers. I'd have Markanday back in an instance, but I think we'll get priced out of the market.

He's not played much regular football prior to joining us on loan where he got plenty, went to league one and as the season closed out he didnt feature a lot. I can see us being a good option for him in his eyes off the back of his loan move.

I think everyone would welcome him back mate, but I just feel that a club in league one will snap him up. I really hope you're right though, because the price of my season ticket will have been worth it too me, just to see Dilan back here permanently.

Yeah, they could share each other's clothes, 😆. I think we'll keep MacFazdean for sure.

I just think his very successful loan spell with us gives us a very good chance as he knows the club, knows Cook and the staff and knows what things are about here including knowing we will be pushing very hard to be in League 1 the following season. His spell at Orient wasnt brilliant in the end which may make some League 1 teams question signing him to an extent.

Could be making it up but i think we looked at signing him permanently in January so we'll definitely be all over it this summer.

He might see us as a stepping stone I suppose, maybe with a release/buyout clause in his contract that would allow him a step up if he has a storming season with us?
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

And to be honest, I think that's the ideal for both parties. He's 23/24 so a great age for us to use him as a sellable asset, and he knows that we have a decent modern history of selling talent to Championship/Premier League level.

Ideally he fires us to the L1 playoffs and earns us some bob along the way. Happy days all round.

It would certainly be nice to be a club where the premiership outfits come knocking. Paul Cook certainly gets the best out of most of those he brings into the club and that includes Markanday.
