I suspect that Starmer has crossed a few 'red lines' with his comments. There'll be those who abhor the language and apparent sentiment. And there'll be those who abhor what would appear to a lack of integrity.

On the level of support for Starmer's comments from Labour supporters, I'd be surprised if a large proportion of 'Labour supporters' who placed a cross against Labour rather than Reform support his language. It seems to me that if they have such views, there's a readymade home for them in Reform and not in Labour.

Long and short of it; Starmer has become a liability for Labour

Labour's red wall areas are over. People aren't stupid, but Starmer thinks they are. He thinks he can pull them back to Labour with some cheap lies about immigration - it's not going to happen.

Meanwhile, the same language he's using, is being found abhorrent by the liberal progressives who now prop up the Labour party.

Starmer became a liability from day one, with his lies and appalling inflammatory language used regarding the Southport riots. Fast forward almost a year and flip flop is severely embarrassing the party.

Creates too many legal hurdles, they will be holding out for a straight sale as the property has planning permission for redevelopment now...

I like the term "creating legal hurdles" when talking about illegals.

I tend to go with some of the locals thoughts that they don't want potential occupants dossing around on Poole Quay and so close to the handily placed boats, not a good look. Unlike in nearby B'mouth where tourist and illegal hotels are side by side and for the tourist getting back to their hotel after a night out can be intimidating.

Nope the administrators wont be after short term profit, just getting enough in to cover their costs and something back for the creditors so they go for the easiest option.. its nothing as exciting as someone thinking about it and it not being the right look. To be honest the local council would have no option or say...hence the Reform court case...

Been off grid for a few days and only just managed to see Starmer's immigration speech. I had to watch it twice as I could not believe what I was hearing. The man is so out of touch with the general public it's embarrassing, he's a complete idiot.

I suspect the majority of normal folk don't have a problem with legal immigration, the Care Sector and farming it going to take a massive hit and that's not what people want.

When will he get it into his thick skull that illegal immigration is where government failings are, there is no control and that's why the recent local elections went the way they did. Illegal immigration is putting a strain on this country the size of which has never been seen before, he just sits in his ivory tower hoping no one notices.

Be interesting to see how they are covering their costs an appeasing the creditors, unless sitting on the eyesore results in appreciation and a little income from the advertising posters.

The site is worth millions as it has planning for residential development on the front overlooking the harbour and then a hotel in the car park at the back with no nice views. Its why we wouldnt buy it as we wanted the hotel to have views at least in part . A few quid from asylum seekers isnt worth their hassle in the scheme of things (a couple of million a year when I say a few quid but they will want it turned over by xmas and the hassle getting a tenant in and out and delaps paid for etc just isnt worth their hassle as it only benefits the previous owners probably!)
