Not a lot to debate though!
Some great talking by Starmer this morning - already doing more to sort out immigration in a few months with some proper adult planning than all those years of the previous regime

Deluded or just winding people up? Starmer forced to go live and talk about migration as a result of Reform's tremendous success and a percetage vote, if sustained, that would sweep them into government at a general election.

So what do we get, or more significantly, what dont we get?

No policy about illegals
No policy stopping the boats.
No policy about growing dissonance in communities now going rural.
A refusal to leave the ECHR.
An admittance that smashing the gangs is not working because the legislation needs to be stronger.
A refusal to admit that tens of thousands of Indians are set to add to our already over populated country who will not pay NI for three years therefore undercutting the indigenous workforce.
The ridiculous notion that tens of thousands of illegals will be welcome to settle here if they get a degree.

but we do get

A move to the right picking up Reform policy about banning woke judges who work for pro migration outfits.

All this from a man who, not long ago, welcomed open borders, migrants in their tens of thousands telling us they would boost our economy, they haven't, they are making us poorer.

Agree he’s gone over to the right a bit - but I guess he had to.

The open borders policy though was the Tory one a one that championed was back in 2013 if you recall?

It’s actually good to see they have planned this and not rushed into it as could have been done to win some cheap support- what is needed is a proper adult policy which has been planned and not just lip service or cheap rhetoric like the Tories did and Reform always use.

You surely welcome this?

Yeah but Terry the plumber who has just become a councillor’cos he hates Muslims says he’s gonna sort it

If they take legal action about asylum seekers being housed in hotels in their jurisdiction then does that constitute doing something about the problem (even if only moving it elsewhere)?

And therefore would Reform not have fulfilled their mainfesto promise.

On Starmers solution to migration, he is apparently going to stop "low skilled" care workers getting a visa and retraining some of the millions not working to do it as it only takes a couple of weeks training. Maybe what is the wrong with the care system is that those in power really dont understand and value it?

Burning down the rainforests to use a service that regurgitates (often incorrect) information back to you when you could just look it up yourself, to the benefit of like 6 multi billionaires is just bad and anti-intellectual imo.

Starmers big speech this morning was yet more evidence that him and his advisors just don’t get it. Nothing about the boats at all, no plan to stop them as another 400 illegals land this morning.
They’re either as thick as pig muck or it’s by design.

Yes if you want a soulless image of someone with 6 fingers on each hand or an essay that’s completely incorrect then it is indeed perfect. You’re an absolute mug if you think ai will every be ‘powerful’

It’s ridiculous that he is saying these things to get your vote (and I mean yours specifically) and it’s just making you hate him more

I agree, although I suspect we hate him for, at least some, different reasons. But who do you think this anti migration stuff is for if not Reform voters? And yeah, it is a complete waste of time.

It’s realising that millions of people in the UK, regardless who they vote for are sick and tired of uncontrolled immigration, but the idiot is targeting the wrong thing. Yes sort out legal migration, make it more manageable, make those that come here legitimately are looked after and treated properly by employers, but once again completely ignoring the thousands upon thousands who are arriving by the boats and getting priority treatment. Do genuinely think there aren’t genuine Labour voters, who still vote Labour who aren’t really concerned and worried about the issue? Why do you think it’s just Reform voters?

You're wrong. It was all done by Blair, his ilk, and the globalist philosophy.

It should be the British government's job to look after British people. Now, we have Starmer, who has worked for several organisations outside of the UK - giving more care to the human rights of people in Afghanistan, because he doesn't believe his main job is looking after the British people - and that is bloody obvious; his disdain for the working class has been laid bare for all to see.

Blair introduced the Human Rights Act, Constitutional Reform Act, the Supreme Court; empowering the legal system, empowering judges, empowering human rights lawyers, whilst taking power away on economic decisions, Bank of England made independent, likewise the Civil Service, and we are accountable to the ECHR, through the Human Rights Act. Starmer was part of the crew that enacted all of the above, and that's how we've found ourselves where we are.

Blair is the reason we can't deport foreign criminals, whilst ironically giving more jurisdiction to the courts. All done undemocratically - nobody voted for these radical changes; we sleepwalked into them.

Only removal/change of all of those things will see an actual change to the numbers and state of illegal immigration - as if Starmer is going to remove the legislation he purposely helped to enact. It's just a circus of words coming out of Starmer's mouth, with ZERO potential of any efficacy.

The establishment is now firmly on the left. We have politically motivated judges openly spouting Marxist rhetoric, acting with impunity. A titanic shift is required for serious change to occur, and only one party has the potential to do that.

I meant more traditional labour voters who already intend to move over to reform - but yeah it’s also an attempt to stop more doing the same.

The real solution to stopping (or at least severely reducing) the small boats is to make it possible for people to seek asylum legally before they get to this country, and to provide safe routes to do so.

The only way to do that in my opinion is to provide a deterrent to stop them coming here illegally. Stop making it so attractive for them.

Well that’s where we differ isn’t it - I want to stop the boats so that less asylum seekers drown and you want to stop the boats because you don’t want them coming at all.

As a bit of a thought experiment - imagine there were no people trying to cross the channel and claim asylum here. In what ways would life improve for Brits, in your opinion. Under Labour, under Reform, under the Tories, whoever.
