Hilarious he was. And he didn't know it either.

It was ridiculous he wasn’t just on the wind up.

We met a PNE fan who had come to the game to see her hero score for us today, she was delighted at the end.

One of my sons' mates who is an avid PNE fan (his dad is John Woodhouse who wrote the book about Paul Mullin) is now a closet Spireite and has attended games with us.

So being a Spireite is proving to be contagious here in ST13.

Ron Jepson was indeed the ex mayor of Chesterfield and resided on Hunloke Avenue, a few houses up from Boythorpe Rd. A really nice bloke, unlike Sargent Jepson who didn't have a father on his birth certificate, and certainly wasn't nice at all, in fact he made The Witch finder General look a right whimp.

Thanks for confirming.

I knew there was some substance behind it, even though my late dad was the ultimate wind up merchant and I remember him telling Tony Benn to piss off when was standing a slack and rainy day on Chesterfield market outside Leisurefield on a Monday.

Thank you Dad for making me a Spireite.

Will grigg is a fantastic footballer. Our team is 100 percent better with him in the line up. Fact.

I find it absolutely embarrassing that supposed town fans have slagged him off.

Brilliant player and lucky to have him

well taken goal today, personifies cook's philosophy, anyone like me who watched it on tv would have heard cook constantly demanding "patience", that finish was calm in a slightly crazy moment. quality footballer, hope his best in a town shirt is yet to come.

Its all crystal ball stuff but ....
Grigg - proven goal scorer is a no brainer.

Dallas - what could have been.
I firmly believe that under the Spireite umbrella he would have become one hell of a player.
Now he can't get a regular game at relegated Morecombe

That is so funny, some of the comments by our resident so called experts are a joke.

The initial post was by someone who loves to let us all know how much more knowledgeable they are about the game than Paul Cook.

Will Grigg has been brilliant for this club, I personally believe had he not been out injured for so long we would be in an automatic spot. He would have given us ten more goals.

Just another contract for his mates. Nearly all the players cook has signed this summer he has had them at other clubs. Looking at his stats Grigg has never been a 20 goal a season sticker yet were expecting him to be one this season. He's no better than Quigley just on a bigger contract which is why he came here.

🤣🤣🤣

Glorious. I know I say this a lot but I’m gonna keep saying it, some of you watch this sport for decades, committing thousands of hours to it and you still know absolutely sod all about it, it’s mental.

Our friend 'Bonny' has had the minerals to meet mockery in the right manner.

Fair play for that.

Some of the other stuff came from a more sinister place, though.

Either way I fully agree - a fit Grigg and yesterday would've been about auto instead of the play offs.

In fact his absence underlined how difficult it is to replace him...

Actually this post has given me another reason to wax lyrical about how good Paul Cook is. Quigley under Cook became an effective impact sub with a fantastic goals to minutes record. At Forest Green this season, in the same league, he has scored zero league goals.

Says it all.

The more I see that finish the better it is. Came back off the post at pace and would have been missed more often than not by a L2 forward.

You'll get the shock of your life if he scores the goal at Wembley to bring them back to the EFL.

Not as shocked as Forest Green Rovers fans will be.

Mate i had a conversation with you at half time but all this talk of dragging players out of position due to Intelligent running is baloney,it was 80 minutes till he dropped off and came deep,he must have had less than 20 touches in the game ,now I'd love to be proved wrong but I wasnt wrong about bringing the superb Jones back and I wasn't wrong about colclough being a left sided player he is class but grigg is a passenger the rest of the front 4 are carrying him

Another cracker. That said, there were plenty that came out with the same rubbish. Local bakers must be doing a roaring trade selling all those humble pies
