It will obviously be very difficult for Matlock if they vote down Hilton's "offer," but not half as difficult as picking up the pieces when his involvement goes tits-up.
It's nice to be able to Trust again.

I think this is probably the most alarming bit of that interview, if true:

“He has passed the FA’s Owners and Directors test..."

the email that was sent to the members clearly shows which way the board wants them to vote. seems like a rubberstamping exercise.

It reads that way and I thought the same. Someone needs to tell their Treasurer's son though!

Unsurprisingly it appears the vote went in favour of Hilton taking full control.

Love the Matlock games and sort of follow their results from afar, and I’ve read this thread and subsequent links with interest, but is this Hilton thing really the final step to oblivion, or a last roll of the dice they had to make?
All in all really sad they seemingly have slumped so low.

I'm not sure it was a dice they had to roll. Yes, relegation, but they'll be one of the best supported clubs in the division below. For 100+ years before this season, they seemed to me to be a club that lived within its means, even if that meant progress was slow. whatever Hilton turns out to be like, and you might guess my view on that, the previous chairman seems to have a lot to answer for, for dropping them in the plop to begin with.

I like Matlock as a club, and have watched them on and off since 1980 or there abouts when we haven't had a game. Friendly staff, a decent standard of football for the price and not far to go for a game.
I hope they get promoted next season and the new chairman doesn't turn into a con man.

Unfortunately he's a convicted con man.

Q1. Are you human?
Q2. Do you breathe?

Yes to both, you’re in!

Then it doesn't sound too good for The Gladiators then. We've had our own demons to contend with so I do feel for them in the long run.

Well, one Matlock fan kept saying how Ilkeston fans love David Hilton/White/Anderson/Whicheveralias and that Scunny fans are simply trolls.
I’m sure this will end well.
These go to eleven.

Once again, Kieran Maguire raises questions about the £250K bad debt write off in Scunny's latest accounts. Worth a listen, Azul.

So was Darren Brown to start with...

He should have done the interview before the vote and provide the evidence he says he has in response to the issues raised with him.

We were ripe to be pillaged. Matlock own nothing? I'd be interested to know where his funding comes from on an ongoing basis.

Yep.
And he won't be wanting any speculative comment like what I'm about to give but ........ imo it's all about shifting the cricket club off that land. Speaking as a batsman who has actually hit a six onto (or maybe even over) the main road I've long thought that it's a substantial H and S problem that wasn't around in Victorian times. One accident and the outlook changes. It's a good bet for him if he's a major shareholder.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on
