Moorcoft Pottery, established in Burslem over 100 years ago, goes into liquidation blaming high electricity prices and NI rises. 57 jobs gone, including some of the world's greatest designers whose work is respected around the world. High end, expensive, quality pottery business with world wide sales down the swanny courtesy of this Labour Government whose NI rises tipped them over the edge.

Interesting. I've just scanned through the first 6 results about this on Google and not a single one mentions the NI tax rises:

https://www.bbc.co.u...es/cwynq8jgg3lo
https://www.itv.com/...-than-100-years
https://www.insiderm...ceases-to-trade
https://www.stokesen...ect-57-10145180
https://stoke.nub.ne...on-trent-258802
https://www.aol.com/...-143834669.html

Where have you seen that it's the NI tax rises which've "tipped them over the edge"?

I just looked through your links and you're correct, none of them mention NI rises. But to be fair to fearsghost, I did hear that as one of the reasons on the radio. Obviously amongst many other reasons like energy costs and the cost of living crisis. Your support of Rachel Reeves and the Labour government is admirable mind. Good for you.

What would your reply have been if S+D had said that but instead of ugly had put brown?
A new hope.

So you spend time attempting to prove I'm spreading lies rather than demonstrating concern for those who have lost their jobs.

NI increases were mentioned on Talk TV this morning quoting a tweet from the factory.

You're very defensive. I just thought it odd that the company wouldn't mention this in any of their press releases about the matter. The fact they haven't suggests to me that it's probably not the thing which "tipped them over the edge".

From what I heard on the Radio, energy costs was the straw that broke the camels back but other elements contributed as well; like the cost of living crisis and NI.

Does it matter what it was that pushed them over the edge? The sad fact is 58 people lost their jobs as well as the knock on effect that will have.

Its a sad event where one-upmanship pails into insignificance.

No direct quote from the company and I can't find one anywhere online. I'm just keeping you honest.

Frears posted it as a criticism of the Government; he wouldn't have posted about the matter if he couldn't attribute blame to the Government for them going bust. I'm literally just asking questions about what he posted, because there is no official statement that I can see from the company supporting what he said, and it would be very strange for them not to mention that at all in any of their press releases. He's now provided a quote from Joe Rich, a longtime Conservative Counciller, who hasn't provided anything to support that Labour's NI hikes have caused this. What Joe Rich has done, however, is write his tweet like BBC News have stated that the cause is partly Labour's NI hikes, despite them not actually saying this.

It may well be that the hikes have contributed, all I'm saying is that it's odd that they haven't been mentioned by anything official. Maybe they'll be mentioned later, who knows. Obviously it's sad that people have lost their jobs, I thought that went without saying...

Correct. I will criticise this dreadful government and quite rightly.

So instead of spending millions on illegal ethnic spongers leeching off our country, how about they go and bail out this world class company and secure some jobs and futures.

So you should, as long as it's based on facts and I'm not sure your latest criticism is factual.

Why is it OK to comment on someone's looks and weight in a way that would be totally unacceptable if it referenced their colour or religion (or sexual preference)? This is just as discriminatory and generalist crap that you would be crying about if it was against some other groups.

The worst kind of moaner is a hypocritical moaner. I'm going to stand up for my fellow overweight and ugly men (although I dont really wear trainers.. and I'd never vote reform). And say that you are as bad or worse than those you criticise.

Can I ask you to cease from commenting on white overweight blokes then, only fair. That could be me so I am taking offence on behalf of all of us...
