No idea on pricing but halibut or sea bass I think.

I don’t think sea bass has the same texture and flavour as monk fish. No where near IMO. And I like sea bass a lot.
A new hope.

Expensive though - does anyone know of a “meaty” fish like monk fish that is cheaper?

Like say Cod and pollock?

What’s the pollock version of monk fish?

Try swordfish if you can get hold of it.

I go to the market at Canary Wharf for fish regularly tneres some real deals to be had, but I’d get monk fish first there isn’t a shortage of choice

Copilot suggests cod, halibut or lobster or scallops as substitutes - not sure any of those are cheaper!

The fish stall in Moor Market is where I go, they are incredibly busy and their turnover of fish on display is ridiculous which is why I prefer it over the one in Town. I bought some uncleaned Squid last month and it was absolutely superb. I keep an eye out for sword fish but they sell out really quick.

The butcher on Moor Market is also as good as anywhere I've seen.
