Last game of the season, we need 3points for the playoffs, Accrington need 3 for safety...

The way this crazy season is going it's still possible.
all we are saying, is give us ...a goal, or 2+

I think Accrington will be fine before then. Their game against Carlisle on Monday is huge though!

I don’t think Accrington will need 3 points to be safe. I think they will already be safe.

If, and it’s a big if, we can win our next 2 home games I’ve a sneaky suspicion we might not need to win either as goal difference will be our saviour.

My dream is we beat the not-so-in-form Walsall away in the playoffs and gain revenge at Wembley against County.

What an end to the season that would be.

Although it would be presumably easier to win the tie by thrashing Walsall in the first leg at home?

Indeed, but will we not have to complete the task by coming out on top on aggregate away when, only then, the celebrations can start?

Or perhaps you had forgotten that L2 play offs are two legged?

1990 would do us:- 4-0 win at home, 2-0 away.

If we can beat Bradford Monday, then I’m hoping Morecambe will already be down with nothing to play for the following Saturday and hopefully be going through the motions when we play them. If Accrington can beat Carlisle Monday, then they’ll also likely be safe by time we play them too and hopefully on the beach…

We’re in with a chance, and if you’d have said to me we’d be this close to the play offs with 3 games to go after that 4th consecutive defeat at Colchester just over a month ago… I’d have probably laughed, but definitely snapped your hands off for it. Come on the boys, big push now.

The stars seem to be aligning, the hand seems to be being dealt, the dice seem to be rolling, the cookie seems to be crumbling, the chicks seem to be hatching…cue CFC 1 Bradford 2

No, we needed more then 2 draws

Mathematically it’s still on but realistically we dropped out over the new year with the injuries

Our recruitment was half national league half league 2 and in Jan further recruitment was hampered by injuries
A new hope.

Said before..where we were 11/12 games ago…you’d snap your hand off for the position & potential opportunity now…going into the last two games still with a ‘chance’ of being promoted is amazing bearing in mind all the ridiculous injuries we suffered to key players.
Case in point Grigg…since he’s been back he’s been scoring…

Exciting end of season…love being a Spireite

Pepple, on the whole has done ok, he’s a player that may be worth a punt here for another year, but similarly to Olakigbe, I wouldn’t be too worried if they arnt. Grigg has been a huge miss.

Yes its exciting

Yes it is still possible.

Would you bet your car on it? Would you bet your house non it?

Cook hasn’t ever won promotion without winning the league

If you’re talking about in-game tactics then this is demonstrably untrue. He’s changed it quite a bit throughout the season. We’ve had 4-2-3-1, 4-1-4-1 and sometimes switched to 3 at the back depending on how the game develops. We’ve also become more direct, there wasn’t much ‘tippy tappy’ football played yesterday (despite some people still complaining of this?) - we were more direct because Bradford pressed us and we struggled to play out, Boot barely played a goal kick or free kick short if I remember correctly so we switch it up depending on what we’re facing. Against Gillingham we played frequent diags to isolate our wingers against their full backs, we weren’t doing that in the first half of the season. I could go on but you get the picture, I think we’ve seen a lot of tactical changes on display this season but your average football fan doesn’t notice the nuances, let’s face it your average fan thinks the only way to go more attacking is to stop playing one up top and put another striker on the pitch.

I’m not saying Cook is a tactical genius, he was out-thought (and the team were out-fought) during the first half yesterday but (kind of unrelated) having to deal with a season of people whinging about how ineffective we are, how the opposition have us sussed and how we make late robotic subs when we are the 4th top scorers in the league with the most thrashings of other teams and the most goals scored by substitutes while suffering countless injuries and being reffed out of several matches has made me feel like this is the Truman show and I’m being gaslit by (some of) my fellow fans 😂
