Grimes probably stays for balance being left footed. KM can do the left hand of CB aswell, then if Dunkley recovers, and do we keep Palmer after his recent good spell but let Williams go?
That doesn't really seem like progress
Fleck again for a similar reason, balance being left footed and his obvious ability, but there are slightly bigger doubts over his fitness, Naylor will still be here and we're a little lighter in CM presuming Oldaker is going and we don't get Metcalfe back
I'm not sure though, of the 6 players I've mentioned that could/might still be here, they are all 30+

For those willing to take the gamble, some considerations;
Imo, the major consideration is how many of the current CH's can be effective backups next season. Our first choices will surely be Dunkley and AN Other won't they?
If it's L1 by any miracle then Maccers is the only one good enough.

I’d expect both would be keen to have a final season pushing promotion having already earned good money from the game.
Offer a year. So long as it isn’t silly money there are far better savings to be had from from other out of contract players not resigning
And of course bonuses.

PS
The OP has used the moniker Fadz, which has historically followed McFadzean around. Blackburn entitled their goodbye to the player Farewell Fadz, Webb called him by the same.
So much better, repectful and quicker to type, than McFadz, McFaz, Maccas, Maccers or other mangled alternative.

How do you know what he would be offered?! Of our 4 other CBs none can do what McFadzean can do. If he’s fit enough he should be offered a contract - whether he takes a 12 month one who knows.

Don’t get me wrong,I can see his qualities but he’s only played four times, all at home, is 39 next year and we have suffered a huge amount of injuries this year. I want a younger, more mobile squad. He doesn’t fit the profile.
PS of the four he has played, two times the opposition had a man sent off. A third game he was subbed with 20 mins left. Saturday saw an awful opponent.

While I’m all for a younger squad you only have to see the impact on how Metcalfe has played with fleck next to him to see what that extra bit of quality and experience brings. We shouldn’t turn down obvious quality just because they are older.

The obvious alternative is to bring through our own younger players, however, Kevin Davies apart, how often have we done that in our lifetimes?
Ideally we need to try to get somewhere in between ad Cox did with Wilson, Birch and Bonnyman and Cook himself did before with such Morsy, Clucas and Robert’s who were still young enough but good enough Although I would argue Robert’s, excellent as he could be at times, was also past his best when he signed. As we know finding such players is far from easy.

I was impressed by the Mayor of Fleetwood and his ability to go past opponents. Didn't realise he was 34!

Fadz, Fleck, Madden and Grigg
Just need plenty of energy around them and get the full backs nailed
If you had Tanton and Sparkes to combine with the wingers you’ve effectively got 5 forwards and your CDMs don’t need to get as high

I think that for teams in the lower leagues there is an abundance of players available each close season and we shouldn’t be too hasty offering deals to players who have played less than 6 times for us and are pushing 40.

Is Fleck approaching 40?
And Fadz is quite clearly our best CH, it’s not even close
An abundance of players yes but quality over quantity please
