I’m sure Ive read somewhere that you can’t do contracts like that anymore, ie pay as you play, but I might be wrong.

Also, would imagine players of their experience and pedigree would probably see an offer like this as a bit of an insult. If we don’t make them an offer, someone else will I’m sure, so if we want them we’d have to make the deal work for both parties.

I would definitely both were class yesterday along with some younger players to learn from them

Surely you just offer a low base salary with a heavy appearance fee or a bonus linked to 10, 20, 25, 30 games etc
I’d expect both would be keen to have a final season pushing promotion having already earned good money from the game.
Offer a year. So long as it isn’t silly money there are far better savings to be had from from other out of contract players not resigning

Absolutely. Can be the absolute minimum salary with £x per appearance which elevates it significantly.

I would, provided they are prepared to wait to sign following the completion of a successful pre-season.

This.
When CM has either (or both) Banks and Oldaker in there the probability of cleans sheets is reduced. An engine room of Naylor and Fleck with Metcalf and a.n. other challenging would be a big step forrad.
I see from highlights that Fadz should have scored yesterday.

Neither of them need pace as they are blessed with speed of thought.

For those willing to take the gamble, some considerations;
Will both players be regular starters and if so, how many games do you expect them to play next season?
Are you confident enough to build your central defence and midfield around both players?
Do you think there has been a lack of mobility in the CD & CM pairings this season and will retaining both players address this issue?
As I see it, we need players who can contribute now and grow with us. Both Kyle & John are coming to the end of their careers and there is certainly no longevity in either arrangement.

Fleck for me, but both come with the chance of superb benefits or a injury nightmare
