Well the bookies had us as favourites for promotion. So top 7 not unreasonable and therefore minimum.

The bookies on Tuesday had Connor Cook as 3rd favourite to score first. Their lower league knowledge is as good as yours.

That what? Play-offs weren't the minimum target? Of course they were!

The Kirk’s said at the forum the target was top 12. In public. For all to hear. So no they weren’t. The plan was to give the players who got us here a chance z

Did the Kirks say that last bit?

The MINIMUM target was staying in the division ffs.

In that case the MINIMUM target (if you do it in caps does it make it better?) was not going bust before the first game of the season.

First things first - Fleetwood were obviously on the beach.

Worse than Carlisle.

In fact they seemed to be giving a couple of kids a run out - none more so than the twenty one always looking for direction.

Today's visiting fans ought to demand a refund from their club.

But as the old saying goes you can only beat what's in front of you. And we did. Easily.

Yeah it was frustrating in the first half, us spending the last fifteen of which falling towards their end-of-season tempo.

However a Boot save apart it was a walkover.

McFadz totally in control. What his feet didn't do his mouth did. Even conducting seasoned performers like Palmer.

Metcalf my MOTM. Everywhere. His 'legs' offering Fleck licence to ping it for fun.

Other than that 'sevens' all 'round. Pretty much what we've got used to from each individual player. Positive and negative.

So a question - how many of those pulling on a blue shirt this afternoon do folk think will start the first game next season?

I'm gonna say two - Dobra and Grigg.

Discuss...

Always happy to discuss.

Agree with your first choice.

But never write off big bad Paddy.

Deployed correctly, could be very useful next season. See his first touch today...

A lot depends on the business we do in the close season.

Whilst Dobra is under contract is it possible we will receive an offer we can’t turn down?

At some point we need to sign the next Will Grigg - will it be before next season?

Who will be offered contracts or extensions to contracts?

Who will we sign?

So, I hope you are right about Dobra. I can see Grigg becoming more of a bit time player, also possibly Naylor. If relatively cheap I think offers will be made to MacFadzean and Fleck. I wouldn’t be surprised if we show interest in re-signing Pepple, Olakigbe and Metcalfe. Similarly, we need a squad as well as a first choice 11 so I have not seen many better than Boot at this level and with a better defence in front of him he could be better still but certainly an excellent No2. Metcalfe could well start next season as could Mandeville. Duffy could benefit from a good pre-season.

So, there are a lot of ifs and buts. However, I expect an interesting time after the end of this and before next season.

Like you, mate, the bookies often get it wrong.

I said at the beginning of the season I would be happy with consolidation. I believe it took the Stags 13 seasons to get promotion out of this league and they’ve thrown millions at it. If and when we go up I want us to be ready for the challenge we will face and consolidate again not be constantly looking over our shoulders to see how far off we are from the drop zone.

Anyway, with 4 games to play we have an outside chance. We need a good Easter next and then see where that leaves us.

Most clubs probably "throw millions at it" every year. What is our spend this season? The question is how many millions they throw at it and how much has Radford invested in those 13 seasons

Your humility knows no bounds.

Your level of self importance is second to none on this forum. Misplaced.

With your second to knowledge I’m surprised you didn’t add to the Play Offs or not thread. Oh wait…that’d take some courage in your conviction not some pathetic trolling.

very comfortable and convincing win today, fleetwood were dreadful but you still have to do your bit, three well taken and very different goals, it's still on even if we don't have a lot of margin for error.

I thought Fleetwood were competitive throughout, even at 3-0 and not just sitting back. We had dominated them without creating many good chances before the goal, which came as a huge relief. Pretty much everything would need to go our way to finish 7th and losing Dobra to injury - if that's the case - isn't one of them. Time we got lucky.

We would have won the league if all those subs were made at halftime.

Just mental isn't it when you read some of the shit that gets spouted. Robotic subs, bloated backroom staff, teams have us sussed - oh no wait, actually we score tonnes from our subs and we've battered loads of teams this season. When we were in the National League, people were saying we needed to change the way we played; we didn't, we kept doing what we were doing, we just recruited better players and we won the league at a canter. This year we've suffered an unprecedented number of injuries, massive player turnover as a result and we're still in with a shout of the playoffs.

People know nowt and Cook is the daddy.
