Oldaker gave it to Palmer who gave it JG to be fair.

Fair enough, in my mind/memory it went straight to JG.
Still went backwards tho

A question posed over celebratory pints last night. Have we named 3 full internationals, in a match squad before?

Just checking El-Fitouri, Graham and Simons for 2016/17 but only got two out of three.

Didnt stop them signing 11 or 12 players in the January transfer window! A website that lets you see wage bills etc has them paying £5,419,000 in wages this season which is a £1m more than us!

According to Carlisle fans, they believe they have the highest budget in the league.

I left the stadium feeling quite annoyed. Fairly ridiculous given our dominance and the result (and other results). I was annoyed at what I considered unacceptable displays from Jacobs and Oldaker and that, on other night, we could have easily had a re-run of those early season games when we managed to turn a home victory into another draw.

On Jacobs. That's enough thanks. I'd rather see Connor Cook in the squad than Jacobs.

On Oldaker. I've watched the highlights to re-check what I thought I'd seen in the run up to their goal. (And has already been said) What I think I saw was as follow: Oldaker got the ball inside their half with time and space. He was facing forward. He had options to play the ball towards the space in the SW corner of the pitch; he had options to run forward with it. What he did was to slowly turn backwards facing Palmer and pass the ball backwards to Palmer. It seemed a slightly under-hit pass. Palmer looked across the Grimes and gave him what looked a slightly under-hit, slightly backwards pass. Oldaker appeared to stroll backwards past Palmer. Grimes squared the ball towards Oldaker. It was a poor pass. When Hugill started running Grimes hared off after him,. Oldaker didn't appear to change his jogging pace back towards our goal. Oldaker didn't appear to make an effort to prevent Hugill from scoring. Time to sack Oldaker off and put someone else in the squad.

You're right, looked it up. Way back in 2013.

It seems Oldaker had already been 'sacked off' but Naylor's illness meant he was needed/wanted to give an opinion off the bench.

Interesting how Oldaker seems to be getting the blame when it was Grimes who, as he does at least once or twice a game, gifted the opposition the ball under little pressure. He did it earlier on in the match with his right foot, just played it straight into the middle of the pitch.

Can't see where anyone is "blaming" Oldaker, their goal came from a terrible pass from Grimes. Folk are just commentating on Oldaker's negative play which is fair.

Hopefully both will have found pastures new next season. I’ve tried defending DJ but wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if the rumours his head has been turned are true and I cannot stand another season of watching Grimes pass the ball to the opposition.

Not if it’s Cooks requirements.

I was thinking about Jamie grimes last night, and how the club has progressed under his captaincy. He has barely missed a game in four seasons(approaching 200 games), during which time the club has been on an upwards trajectory. Whilst others have been injured, he has been available. He has never shirked a tackle or a header in this time. His goals have won us loads of points when we were looking for a breakthrough.

I wish people would lay off him for the occasional mistake. He has proven himself as league two quality... he isn't perfect... but he is a genuine CFC legend. I just wish the fans would let him know that whilst he was here rather than after he had left.

No doubt Grimes has been an excellent servant for the club - however, he isn’t good enough if we want to progress and be in League 1. Ash Palmer has come back from a long lay off and looks head and shoulders above Grimes. Araujo, a young kid was head and shoulders above Grimes. Mcfadzean in his 2 games looked miles ahead - as did Dunkley.

Always fit? yes. Always gives 100%? Yes. Good enough? No.

Grimes has been brilliant for our club, a true leader on the pitch and from what I see, well respected by other players. If he goes it will be a sad day for me but he will definitely get fixed up in either L2 or the NL.

When a defender makes an error the cost of that error can be losing a game. The cost of a mistake by a forward/midfielder (of which we saw plenty v Carlisle) can be not winning a game. We still beat Carlisle even though errors were made all over the pitch.

He isn't a top class defender but if he was he would be higher than L2.

Overall his contribution has been fantastic, he is a beast in the air and as you say, he’s Mr. Consistent, always available. My post should’ve acknowledged that too, so yes, good reply.

None of the ones you mention with the exception of Nathan Smith and Boa Morte were full internationals whilst on towns books.

Thanks to all the responses, so it has happened before albeit with some household names as well!!! With regards to the class of '32 perhaps we should consult with Azul in future.

I think the difference is people can see how committed Grimes is, how much it means to him and the 100% effort he puts in. Oldaker on the other hand often doesn't appear to give a toss and simply ambles around the pitch putting in very little effort, particularly when 'tracking back', which is ironic because he spends most of the time facing our goal rather than the opponents.

I think it all boils down to whether Oldaker called for the ball. One thing's for sure, Fleck wouldn't have. He'd have instructed Jamie to pass the ball to Gordon.
The planned sequence of play should have been in Oldaker's head. If he didn't call, then it's 100% Jamie's fault for failing to keep it simple.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on
