Noticeable how Fleck would give a pass and then point to where he thought the next one should go- he was clearly thinking further ahead than others.

Yes agreed, he had a great game and the experience was telling.

Best compliment I can give Fleck is that was the most Morsy-esque performance I’ve seen from a town midfielder since, well, Morsy…

Going back a long time mate and a different era I know but I have always thought Tommy Fenoughty was a superb midfielder. He was always a big favourite of mine.

My favourite was Marcus Ebdon a quality player

Phil Robinson was the best midfielder I've seen at Town. Yes, Ebdon was quality too. Oddly enough, for individual midfield performances, Jak McCourt at home v Forest Green Rovers (home, won 3-2 IIRC) played like peak Gerrard instead of a knackered pub footballer with lead in his boots.

These go to eleven.

Robbo and Ebdon were quality players, both excellent John Duncan signings.

For an individual performance remember Sean Parrish and his goal from miles out (may have been against Kidderminster but I might be wrong - happy to stand corrected)?

Not sure who it was against, although I don’t think it was Kidderminster, but if you mean the one into the Cross Street goal at Saltergate I seem to remember it was absolutely tipping down all game and it was the day Kevin Keegan resigned in the toilet at Wembley after defeat to Germany scuppered out hopes of qualifying for either the Euros I think.

Shrewsbury.

I was there! Memorable goal, for sure. Great player, Parrish, especially in our promotion season. Cracking winner at Macclesfield.

It was against Shrewsbury, hit it from the Compton Street touchline! I was sponsoring his shirt that season as well.

Robinson and Ebdon were very good indeed but Danny Wilson was the best midfielder I have seen for us. Also Tom Fenoughty although I was only a kid when I watched him so can’t really remember him that well even though I must have seen him a lot.

Both Fenoughty and Wilson were excellent along with the others mentioned but I also liked Salmons too.

Just 50 years ago that he was a major part of the Matlock side that won the Trophy at Wembley. Great day, great player. And then they went and hammered Mansfield at Field Mill in the cup the following season.

It's safe to say, that most of us were very impressed with John Fleck last night, but even in his cameo appearances, his quality was on show. I'm hoping he'll be ok for Saturday because he ran that game last night in a Morsy kind of way, and that's high praise indeed. It was worth the money just to see that performance, let's hope for more.
