However, surely, it'd be better if he (and whoever) admitted their own failings first; otherwise it looks like sanctimonious, virtue signalling, arrogance...no? The fact is, his toxic masculinity was on full display, only three months ago; it's not like it was ten years ago, mate...so wind your neck in a bit.

Anyway, as per; the subtext has become the issue. It's not about me, my friend; it's about the programme and the propaganda surrounding it; the issues it's raised, versus the reality.

It’s a TV show- it’s entertainment.

Nothing s stopping you writing a show where the Muslim people are bad and nasty people you know?
Why don’t you write one - you’d become a hero to a lot of people in the country. Mainly low IQ of course but that’s a lot of the general TV watching population.
You have a lot to say - always a hatred of non white things - put pen to oaper- you may have a new career.

What sort of a point is this? He’s done something bad before therefore he cannot speak about a subject?

You need to get over this thing you do where you pick out one point of somebody’s past and use it as a reason to dismiss what they’re saying. People are complicated beings, we’ve all been hypocrites in our lives (apart from you, apparently?) it doesn’t mean they can’t talk about a particular subject?

I believe Alistair Campbell is a liar. What subjects can I rely on his opinion for?

Just finished it this afternoon
The first episode is a difficult watch with some outstanding performances
For me Walters is the stand out of the series but by god is it full of propaganda
Riveting though, thoroughly riveting

It won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but Last One Laughing on Amazon is absolutely brilliant.

So you're saying folk can only list TV Series they are into without commenting or discussing the said TV series content? I think Misnomer made some valid and not so valid comments based on the show but he stuck to that narrative. Others twisted his words.

I am not sticking up for him, I'm sure he can look after himself but if people are discussing the content of hard hitting shows, what's wrong with that?

On this occasion I wasn’t referring to Misnomer.

For me this thread should be purely based on recommendations.

So you don’t think tv show content should be discussed?

So it’s pointless me asking what people think of the Paramount + series 1923 so I can get a feel for it? I’ll bare that in mind.

Not to the point of debating politics etc.

And no that’s not what I mean as I’m sure you know.

100% agree
The thing with Adolescence is its absolutely a gripping watch and shows the consequences every family has to endure with crimes like portrayed.
The knock on affect it causes for everyone involved.
The production itself is amazing and complete acting master class by all involved.
My only negatives were I thought the coppers in episode 1 came across heavy handed and over the top.
The toxic masculinity discussions later on in the series I thought were a bit preachy.
Other than that it was absolutely gripping and if it makes one kid think twice about carrying a knife its done its job.

I’m all for recommendations and a bit of context and content but when we’re moving into the realms of the ‘and still it goes on’ thread then it’s moving away from the purpose of the thread.

The Comd-in-Chief and I have just started watching the second series of 1923 on Paramount+. Fans of Yellowstone may like this as its based on the Dutton family before Kosner was born. A bit like the Wilbur Smith Courtney novels.

Anyway, I think its a good watch with good performances from Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren.

Finished Toxic Town and Gangs of London S3 but not started Adolescence but have enjoyed reading the debate on here in fairness. It's obviously done with an ulterior motive and probably strikes fear into any parent of young children in terms of the culture children are growing up in, what they are involved in, what media or whatever they are consuming and also how little, us as parents, know about this...

That said, the reviews are very good so I definitely want to watch it - very rare a series gets the talkability this one has had, so it must be for a reason - especially if politicians are, rightly or wrongly, jumping on it

Currently watching 1883 on Netflix

Been brilliant so far.

Gritty no holds barred drama about pioneer settlers moving across America in, you guessed it, 1883.

How was gangs of London 3?

I feel I’d need to start it from S1 E1 to get up to speed again, and not sure if I can be bothered

1883 is the prequel to the series I’m currently watching (1923). After 1923 it moves to “Yellowstone”. 1883 was excellent and it def worth moving on to 1923.
