I am - he was lucky to have less formidable opposition, many of the best players in the world at the time, and a lino in the final who gave the crucial 'goal' when he was in no position to see if it was over the line. In every respect, both on and off the field, Southgate is the best manager England have ever had. Tuchel will go the same way, eventually being crushed by the ridiculous level of entitlement that England 'should' beat every team in the world, and the eventual condemnation of millions of 'fans' explaining how they would win the World Cup while swigging pints in their local.

Haha, looks like you have been swigging a few too many pints. Ramsey was a better club and national team manager, not even close.

England might have had a bit of luck but they were the best team in the '66 final. In Southgates finals we have lost to an Italy team with inferior players as he bottled it, and in the last one we were lucky not to be embarrassed.

How to say you're a Jock without saying you're a Jock.

I'm proud to say it - born in Ibrox, lived most of my life in England. I want both Scotland and England to do well, but Scotland are a lost cause currently. I think my background helps me to be more objective about both countries, and I support them both. Tuchel has the same chance as Southgate of actually winning a trophy - like every other team in every football competition , England's success or failure depends not only on player and management skills, but also a large slice of luck. The results of football matches at every level are decided partly on the fortunate/unfortunate bounce of a ball, lucky/unlucky deflections, decisions for or against by officials, etc etc. If it was a foregone conclusion that the team with the most top players and best manager always won the competition, it would be a waste of time holding tournaments. Let's just enjoy the twists and turns of the competition, and support the players and manager we want to win.

Yep, what a disappointing start. Henderson, Walker, Burn... no reason for any of them to be included.

Why go back to the old guard, ridiculous really

Talking of Scotland, I saw their squad announcement the other day and I didn’t realise how many are playing abroad.

Napoli, Bologna, Sturm Graz, Las Palmas.

Good to see them spreading their wings.

Is that a failing of our national talent? Most play their entire career in England, supposedly the best league in the world, but don’t enhance their knowledge and skill set by experiencing football in other countries.

You reckon Henderson, Walker and Kane are at the stage for developing their careers?

Had a very brief listen to TT interview played by Talk Sport.
From what I can gather, Henderson's inclusion is more of an older head/ experience ect blah blah blah.
If he's there as a 'father figure' come cheerleader, use him as that! Don't take up a spot in the squad. Bring him into the fold as a mentor!
Let's be right, he shouldn't be even considered over the talent coming though.

Great appointment should do well.

After his squad announcement I’m disappointed. Was looking for some incomings for all those guys playing abroad.

I can’t believe he wants to play like the premiership play, he can’t stop all the cheating like all the ‘Head injuries’ that suddenly appear when it suits and then we’ve to over come the foreign officials who see a different game.
God I hate this league.

Not sure what any of the last paragraph means? Why wouldn’t he wouldn’t want to play like in the Premier League?

Tuchel has a clear target of winning the World Cup therefore he will concentrate on who he considers necessary for this task and not thinking about future development

His last paragraph is just pure nonsense, Kind of suggest the cheating is just a premiership thing possibly instigated by foreign players. Just tale a look at what happens in our games in L2 and the NL. I really don't know what kind of football he is suggesting or has been watching

Good luck to him and England.

His pressers seem to suggest he’s hoping to deliver the attacking style that many fans have been calling for, I hope he gets it right and they’re happy (even if he doesn’t go one better than GS did).

Some things don't change whoever's in charge.

Opponents keep ten men behind the ball, hoping to grab summat on the break, turning the game into an attack v defence exercise.

And little in the way of entertaining football.

Cook-esque patience necessary. Possession, look for gaps, then have the purpose to exploit them.

Probs finish an uninspiring yet professional three-nil...
Never underestimate the stupidity of people

I expect similar tomorrow. Low block from them with 8 or 9 behind the ball then hit us on the break.
Early goal needed to put a stop to that plan.
