Dare I say it, even Metcalfe is coming on...I really liked the look of him, but then he drifted out of games, made poor decisions and, in the end, got pulled. You could see how desperate he was for that one to go in the onion bag.

Whatever chat PC gave the team, post fan's forum, they've clearly got the message. It's all we want, effort.

Honestly, I would rather see Metcalfe start than DJ. As you say he has come on no end. Yes he makes the odd mistake/bad pass but his enthusiasm to drive forward is refreshing. We just need to teach him to keep the ball down if he has a shot at goal. And his celebrations at County was there for all to see, he was over the moon.

You could aim that at Banks, his consistency has been a point of concern for me up to the last couple of games. Maybe he’s happy getting a run in the team ? Maybe the general fitness of the improving squad means the workload is spread more evenly ? The 3 game ban mmmm have just about got over that.
We are also at a point where contracts are due for renewal, that could be the biggest incentive for the improvement.

I know Banks likes to play the deeper role, but his best position is behind the striker, or floating across those three forward positions. He's played well in that forward position since the first time Cook tried him there. For me, he's worth another year.

Talking to an Ipswich season ticket holder today regarding Sam Morsey, if you notice he hasn't been starting or even playing lately although being on the bench, what he was saying is that Sam is struggling doing the box to box work now in the Premier League but would be a good addition in a slightly lower league and maybe available at the end of this season. Keep a close lookout on things

I hope so. He’d absolutely boss it in the holding CM at our level
A new hope.

You have to smile, people complain about too many players over 30 then talk about Sam Morsey coming back.

Assuming those complaint about over 30s are the same people saying they would like Morsey back…which they are not

2 of our most prolific players, Jack and Ernie played into the late 30’s for this club

Age is a number and it very much depends on a player’s ability

I would be happy to see Sam finish his career here

Premier League (ok Championship soon) to L2 (ok L1 possibly) can’t see it happening. Though I’m told big signings

If Sam had been crocked for a half or a full season I would be concerned- but as a player who has been a regular even in recent years I would have no issue.

Didn't Morsey himself say that one day he would be back?

I’d imagine even though Ipswich are probably one of, if not the lowest, in terms of wage structure the drop from a Prem salary there to a L1/2 salary here would be eye watering.

This seems reminiscent of ithe talk of Clucas returning which never materialised.
I would think both Sams could still do a job for us, but I also think it’s pie in the sky. The likes of Grigg and Naylor played at a higher level but not as high as Morsy and Clucas, hence I doubt they would step down so far.
Having said that if Morsy is anywhere near the player he was he would dominate this league. i remember the game against Vale which I think we won 3 0 the ex Sheffield U player (can’t remember his name) constantly targeted Morsy niggling him throughout because they knew Sammy was our main man.

I think the talk of Clucas returning was fuelled by his comments when returned with BT Sports for a National League games they covered last year, where he said that he would love to come back to play for this club again, coupled with him being out of contract at Rotherham.
He also dropped to the National League to play for Oldham up until January, so not so pie in the sky really

We could possibly be talking about a drop from the Championshp down to League 1, which is more believable. Morsy would be great, but I think a return to us is still a long shot.

Maybe these rumors in this article are true & Oldaker has already agreed a pre-contract to move elsewhere & Cook doesn't want non-committed players in the squad right now??

Was wondering where Clucas was- it’s hard to keep up with all the comings and goings! Didn’t know he was at Oldham. Presumably now at the real fag end of his career.
