Said from his first game he is strong, won't be bullied and gives 100%,he has skill and pace.As you mention, the biggest problems have been getting the ball to him and getting the defenders OFF him, without any help from the officials.
Many have said how good the ref. was Saturday, compared to the rest of the season no doubt, but he still allowed two arms around Bim's neck for the complete time he was on the field. Some have said on here that he should not get involved,I cannot see how when being assaulted from behind with arms wrapped around his throat by a big hairy bothered defender,he can actually avoid it.

The allowing of two handed shoves and pulls backs seems to go back to the 2021 edict issued to referees that trivial things shouldnt be penalised. Contact alone not to be deemed a foul, all with a view to keeping the game flowing.
Of course give players an inch and they will take a furlong- and we now have the situation you recite above.
For the life of me I cant see why any of this kind of assault is no longer a foul.

As spring approaches are we starting to see the emerging shoots of a decent player, got to admit I wasn?t sure but as an impatient fan that?s sometimes the case, against Newport he emerged in different areas of the pitch, dropping wide in space and curling a lovely shot that hit the post and chasing a ball that was in behind their defence once again being unlucky, I hope he continues on a slow upward curve , that way we might get him next year

Grigg ain?t far off of a return and Cook would have to change things to accommodate both Grigg and Pepple.
God I hate this league.

If they'd got the bo.....ks to give a couple in the 1st 10 minutes and punish accordingly players would soon wise up.

I'd like to see Grigg/Madden or Grigg/Pepple or even Madden/Pepple in a 2 up front in some games in the remainder of the season just to see how it works.

The other one that really winds me up is the two arms pushing back a player when the ball is heading to the byline then literally pushing the forward out of play with the ball about three yards away, still 'not enough contact'.FFS

The rule there for refs to apply, but now rarely used.

Law 23
A direct free kick is awarded if a player commits any of the following offences against an opponent in a manner considered by the referee to be careless, reckless or using excessive force:

charges
jumps at
kicks or attempts to kick
pushes
strikes or attempts to strike (including head-butt)
tackles or challenges
trips or attempts to trip

Further on in Law 12- pull covered by holding
A direct free kick is awarded if a player commits any of the following offences:

a handball offence (except for the goalkeeper within their penalty area)
holds an opponent
impedes an opponent with contact
bites or spits at someone on the team lists or a match official
throws an object at the ball, an opponent or a match official, or makes contact with the ball with a held object
See also offences in Law 3.

These are parts of the rules as I remember them, the rule book used by the officials now I have never been able to see or get a copy, but it must exist as practically every game suffers, I mean benefits from it.

What gets me is when the ref gives a free kick to the perpetrator 🤔.

I thought Paddy's contract expires June 2026. You 100% sure it's 2027?

Furthermore, i recall Cookie saying he wants Paddy to play the 10, to play with Will.

Look at Pepples goals for Southend running the channels running from deep not static with his back to goal battling a CH as the lone striker.

I'd like to think we'll sign a much better striker than Bim over the summer
