As spring approaches are we starting to see the emerging shoots of a decent player, got to admit I wasn?t sure but as an impatient fan that?s sometimes the case, against Newport he emerged in different areas of the pitch, dropping wide in space and curling a lovely shot that hit the post and chasing a ball that was in behind their defence once again being unlucky, I hope he continues on a slow upward curve , that way we might get him next year

I posted in the match thread that there is 100% a player in there. He needs to be absorbing as much as he can from Will Grigg. Particularly his movement. I'd be happy for him to come in permanently if available. He certainly offers much more and has more potential than Drummond.

Thought he got a lot of undeserved criticism from some of our fans, I think overall he's been good and has plenty of promise, I'd be looking to sign him if possible but Luton may have use for him in L1 next season.

We certainly need the next Will Grigg, as such, for the future.

Pepple has scored 3 Grigg type goals but has also shown a different dimension in that he has a bit of pace coupled with the capability to shoot from further out.

There is definitely a player in there and I would like to see him develop further with us. Whether, or not, that might be a possibility might depend on Luton and their plans for him. They look like being relegated to L1 so might decide that Pepple will get enough game time with them in the lower league. However, if because of relegation they want, or need, to offload a number of players in an effort to reduce their budget perhaps they might accept a reasonable offer.

Whatever happens we need to be going into next season with a younger striker capable of challenging Will Grigg and playing the minutes and games when he needs resting.

For me, Drummond should either be played out wide or in a striking partnership. He is not a lone striker.

must be honest I did criticise him however second half on Saturday he upped his game in a number of areas, particular the runs into the channels. He cant rely on simply standing still joined to the centre half. This is what Grigg is excellent at - he never stops moving and is constantly between the two centre halves

His first effort that hit the post was very Craig Davies.

Grigg yes - but also Madden. He's not having a good time with us but his record shows that he's still a very decent finisher. Pepple has got a lot to learn - but he's also got a lot of time to learn too. All the best to the lad.

I thought when he first joined he got some unfair criticism, he was a young lad stepping up into playing league football coming into a side that was struggling a bit. We didnt create a lot for him and left him somewhat isolated at times plus he got the usual dragging all over with no protection from the refs. However at times i thought he showed some glimpses and he's grown from there really. At times on Saturday he was a real handful especially when he got into the channels like the efforts he had close together that hit each post.

Exactly? nail on head it?s just the position he would take up, I thought when he ran in behind it was what Doyle would do as well, I think those attributes make him our no1 till season ends

watched his post match interview back this morning, he's enjoying it here, he is wanting to improve and seems cook's type of player attitude wise, also when asked whether luton had been in touch i found it interesting that he said "no not really", then went onto say how at the moment he's a chesterfield player, let's see what he can do betweeen now and may.

He's certainly a fighter, but the first of his goal-post hits on Saturday showed a lot more in his armoury. One thing's for sure, I'd hate to be a centre-half playing against him.

Pepple's enthusiasm for the game is very evident, and drives his ambition; he seems to improve with each game and is obviously an intelligent guy - and a fast learner. Let's hope the improvement continues - and we find a way to keep him.

Lutons rapid decline might see him starting in league 1 next season... with them.

What's gone wrong there??

He had probably three/three and a half good chances on Saturday to my mind and came away with one goal. I suspect that ratio will need to improve a little, but I agree there?s definitely something there.

Love bim but just wish he'd sort his heading and timing of, in the box, he'll get a lot more goals for us if he does.

Said from his first game he is strong, won't be bullied and gives 100%,he has skill and pace.As you mention, the biggest problems have been getting the ball to him and getting the defenders OFF him, without any help from the officials.
Many have said how good the ref. was Saturday, compared to the rest of the season no doubt, but he still allowed two arms around Bim's neck for the complete time he was on the field. Some have said on here that he should not get involved,I cannot see how when being assaulted from behind with arms wrapped around his throat by a big hairy bothered defender,he can actually avoid it.

It was hard for him not to get involved with it Saturday as it happened pretty much constantly. Couple of times i saw him go to make a run into the channel and the centre back grabbed him straight away before the ball had even been passed forward.

Dave, he's a young man learning his trade in this league, but things will come. From the lad who walked through the door fresh from Eric Morecambe's beloved Luton, to the striker who bagged one, but could have had four, there's obviously been a massive improvement.
The lone striker we play means he's up against two central defenders most the time unless someone gets up to help him. He hasn't the experience or strength of Will Grigg, so ends up on the floor whilst trying to hold the ball up, but all that will change. He's obviously taking in what the coaching staff are telling him, while at the same time picking the brains of Will Grigg and Paddy Madden.
If we can pick him up permanently, bring on Drummond and steal Markanday I for one will think Carlsberg really does work wonders.

The Icarus effect, got to the big time too soon and got burnt. They had their season back in the top division.
