One who we can?t rely on and he?ll need to go in the mass summer clearing of 2025

Of the eight we have under contract beyond this season, most are either senior/experienced players or new signings. The exception is Shecks - I cannot understand/remember why he was given a longer contract. Not that I dislike him, but for me he?s borderline League Two/National League standard at best.

If, as others have said they can't see where the next win will come from, is there a chance we could be relegated ?

We?re on 42 points.

Colchester survived last year on 45. 46 year before that and 44 three years ago.

Nowt to with the Colchester game, but having a look at yesterdays scores I noticed Barnet had more penalties in 4 (thats four) minutes than we've had in 10 days short of a full year.
Derbyshire is Derbyshire
Yorkshire is Yorkshire

Never the twain shall meet.

They probably had players on the ball in the box which is something we rarely have.

Do you think we will be looking for dispensation for the Williams injury to bring in say Dunkley or Fadz?

Seemingly so per the DT article.

The home games against Morecambe, Carlisle, Harrogate and Gillingham are 6 pointers.

If we get 24 points for winning all four of those, we'll be back in the play-offs!

I?ve heard of these conversations already happening, then players involved then being chucked into the starting eleven the week after. You?d like to think they?d remain professional but can also see how they might clock out.

Definitely know one or two influential players enquiring about additional years to their contract to be told it?s not on the table at the moment. Another one of which has his agent touting around interest in his client already as well. Just feels like a mess we could have avoided alongside everything else

Radio Sheffield have released a clip this afternoon of an interview they've done with Barry Bannan.

https://x.com/footba...655913080873285

He's out of contract at the end of the season and believes that if you've done the business on the pitch, the likelihood is you'll get rewarded.

I've looked at the list of players who are out on contract and I wonder how many of them (assuming you're correct) can genuinely feel aggrieved about not being signed up already for next season. A few weeks ago, I would have argued a case for both Grimesy & Ty. I'd offer terms to both Banksy & Lewis Gordon. Given the number of games DJ has played, he probably feels hard done by but if I was the Manager I'd be thanking him for his efforts and wishing him well for the future. There's not much to say about the rest based on their contributions this season, the one that really disappoints me is Ryan Colclough because at one stage of his CFC career, his name would have been one of the first on the teamsheet.

I'm struggling to see how we can have the clear-out we apparently need, and keep folk interested to the end of the season with contract extensions. I suppose people do lose interest if they think they're going, although not looking bothered on the pitch isn't the best way to attract a new club. I remember after I told work I was retiring, my line manager - Mansfield fan - said "I suppose you'll be sat on your a**e doing nothing for a month." I was so offended that I thought "f*** you," and sat on my a**e  doing nothing for a month.

Time for PC to have an open meeting with players and tell them work hard if you want a contract next season

It?s slim pickings, and like you say if a fair few know the writings on the wall then you can see why things have petered out the way they have. A shame all round but also agree there?s not many I would be sad to see leave, if any of being really brutal

Pretty sure players will be very aware if the situation without cook saying that but also I suspect similar conversations have been had anyway.

I dare say if players are OOC, surely they know they need to buck up their ideas or they will be shown the door.
I'd say most know the writings on the wall regarding their time at Chesterfield FC, and I'm pretty sure we'd have a decent chance if guessing who won't be here next seson

If any of the squad need that conversation then I am sure that we as fans would not be the only ones to think we would be better rid.

One player I would give another contract to, and that's Tyrone Williams. He's been excellent when he's played. If he can get fit , I'd have him for another year.
As for those who won't get another contract, I'll keep my thoughts to myself, but most of them are more than capable of playing in this league. Loss of form from the whole team is the problem. They need to remember how they can play, and how they have been recently.
