Widely reported that Grimes felt he'd improved as a player under Cook.

Again, that partnership was second or third choice last season - and for good reason. But now it's all we're left with...
agreed but how many times has grimes under cook been pulled out wide stepped in and just made basic positional errors, who coaches defending at town , because they are all awful, grimes is a great last ditch defender strip him down to basics , he isn?t slow, defend defend he is a msn mountain , stop making him play football he is **** at it

I sound like a broken record but recruitment January has been absolutely appalling. The quality of squad is absolutely shocking and it worries me greatly about the new ?scouts? that have recently emerged?.

The Kirk?s certainly need to rein in the fixation of giving players one last chance in the injury saloon.

Unless you have money to burn recruiting in January is always difficult with a limited pool to look at and especially when you are trying to patch numerous holes like we were working to the 22 man limit knowing players will likely be back so you have to be careful about stacking up paying folk who won?t play unless you can palm them off to non league after the window closes.

I?m not sure what we brought in was that bad either. Sparkes and Duffy look good, McFadzean looked good until the injury curse found him and to an extent Donancien is similar to that. That then leaves the young loan lads of which i think Pepple has done ok in a difficult role getting not a lot of help from officials and at times weve not created much for him. I've not seen enough of the lad from Brentford to comment on him.

You havent given your definition of consolation.
I will offer one. A decent finishing position (top 10) and, where we have a major fail, a core of cracking players ready to go next season.

That?s the main point, fall short but have the basis to push on next year, no probs, dust ourselves down and go again. But we?re collapsing with no apparent foundation to part rebuild in the summer, it?s looking like a full rebuild job, and that takes time.

Grimes was as bad as everybody else tonight but on the concession, the fault was your mate Boot's after Sheckleford for some reason chose not to get tight on the crosser. Their man was 4 yards out when he headed in a floated cross.

There are several first choice loanee goalies around. Crellin was star man at our place.

Agree but Pepple and Olakigbe, nowhere near good enough. They wouldn?t have been last season in the NL, let alone this in the EFL.

Like Dobra, Duffy is a & will be a key asset in the future
Cookie has the opportunity to build a squad during his first tenure..but unlike then?to build & build..not forced to sell, sell, sell

Back in after pretty much what I expected tonight. Plenty of effort but very little coherent play. Chucking a team together in January because the one you started with has gone up in smoke is not a recipe for success & so it is proving. Unlike the pathetic non-supporters who are amongst us on this board though, I will continue to support the team through a difficult spell. Honestly, with friends like some on here, the club certainly doesn't need enemies.

I think the losing of Grigg , Berry and Markanday was the straw that broke the camels back. We have looked like creating nothing up front. Im not quite sure what the solution is.

I?ve heard of these conversations already happening, then players involved then being chucked into the starting eleven the week after. You?d like to think they?d remain professional but can also see how they might clock out.

Definitely know one or two influential players enquiring about additional years to their contract to be told it?s not on the table at the moment. Another one of which has his agent touting around interest in his client already as well. Just feels like a mess we could have avoided alongside everything else

I literally cannot think of any Influential players we have apart from Dobs and he?s recently been tied down

Some really questionable transfer business, where has the money gone? This is what happens when you keep the people who made the club a laughing stock. Where is the leadership from the board room as we hurtle down the league. Maybe stop poncing about in your quarter zip jumpers spending the money you made raping the Earth's resources and get control of this situation. Maybe get the rid of the skint brother and the guys on the board who bum licked Allen all those years.

Embarrassing. I don?t know you, and don?t want to, but you are embarrassing.

I didn't watch the match in any form last night, but anyone who thinks we can put together a decent side to compete at this level, after so many injuries is kidding themselves. A Premier League team, of the likes of Spurs would, and have struggled.
We lost Berry and Markanday in January, with the latter being the bigger loss. We brought in MacFazdean, Donacien, and Sparkes to shore up the defence, and two out of three have had impact injuries that are keeping them out for the foreseeable future.
The players we have left, who are fully fit are trying to put it right, along with the management, we'll get there.

To me, last night's selection looked a lot like 'one eye on next season'. A let's see what certain players can do in this league - unfortunately, it blew up in Cook's face.
It probably confirmed the departure of some if Cook was in two minds about them.

Apart from Dobra and Duffy, none of these other players should be retained. Get rid not good enough.
I cant see Sparkes wanting to play League 2 football next season, so it is a non-starter I feel.

Really puzzled by the decision (are they linked?) to suddenly sideline Kane Drummond (after talking him up) and then randomly bringing back Hobson. This has the added impact of ruling out seeing whether McFadzean has regained fitness enough to earn a contract.

From the outside it does look bizarre. But I?m hoping there is a plan and rationale to this. First real test for Cook and the new Board. I?m still optimistic despite a number of ?insert word of choice? Bobs board members conments
