I think we are playing for pride right now to the end of the season. Play offs a big big distance away.
Unfortunately there?s been too many injuries for one reason or another, to key players that?s had our wheels wobbling for a while?too many players that just don?t cut it at this level unfortunately?I can see at least 12 players go in the summer
It?s a big re build & Cook will deliver?Kirk?s will support & can see fees for a quality goalkeeper, centre half, midfielder & a striker
Frustrating season with a lot of expectation that offered promise until injuries started hitting.
At least it?s not non league & we?ll be stronger & better next season?.hopefully enjoy the rest of the season

You genuinely think the Kirks are going to throw money at a promotion push, buying several players, in key positions? Honestly, I can't see that happening.

Oil rich, attendance rich, but we?re limited by the fair play rules re the budget. Either way we?re falling off a cliff big time.

They need to sort the recruitment and fitness side of the club out before they waste anymore money on dross and crocks like we?ve signed this season

i think the club will be prepping for next season all the time as they should be, the club is aiming for league one but it could take us a couple or 3 seasons to achieve that.

Think the two local councils will be asking for their loans back if they get wind of us ?splashing the cash!? In the summer!

We?ve taken our eyes off the ball this season massively. I?m not saying we?re going to be dragged into a relegation battle but not looking like we will get the midtable consolidation most would have been happy with

We can?t talk about next season until we have guaranteed we are playing in league 2. Our form at the moment is dire, and it?s difficult to see where the next points will come from. We have only got 8pts from the past 12 games, and in 2 of them we played against 10 men. 42pts won?t be enough, given the teams at the bottom are starting to pick up points and have to play us. Next 3 games won?t be easy and the gap is likely to close before we play them

You mean the significant fees we?re prepared to pay for two players in the transfer window & you think we won?t spend money on players going forward.

Too many pessimistic people on here..it?s reality

Put it this way, the Kirk?s are not Dave Allen that will pull the plug & sell every asset. They are genuinely Chesterfield supporters & long time fans?they want the best for this club & go forward.
You only have to listen to them on the podcast to get absorbed with their ambition & enthusiasm to take this club as high as possible

I must admit after the plug was apparently pulled for the York lad for 100k due to a medical issue I was lightly relieved given his recent pedigree. I was more concerned re the DT saying we might revisit that one in the summer.

I?m Cooks biggest fan but he has to take some responsibility for what this seasons turned into.
The obvious injuries derailed us, but the recruitment in the summer and in January can?t be ignored, the Madden signing especially is rather baffling.
Think we?ve underestimated this league, glad we have the opportunity now, with a lot of players OOC in the summer to rebuild and have a proper go next year.
I trust the management to get it right.
Who put the ball in the Mansfield net? Super Jackie Lesterrrr

The problem next season will be the money coming in. With the feel good factor totally gone from last session title triumph there's no way we will sell anywhere near 5k session tickets. We will also do well to get 5 - 6k crowds so we will have less money for the wage bill. Long term then how long will the kittens want to keep funding a loss making business and can they keep putting their hands in their pockets every single season?

The recruitment needs seriously looking at. Whilst some have been injuries we couldn?t see coming others have been appalling in terms of quality:

Daley Campbell - looks out of his depth. Played 9 times. Injuries.
Gordon - very good signing. Season hampered by injury. 20 appearances
Dunkley - very good signing. Freak injury. 9 appearances.
Mcfadzean - signing attempted to stop rot. Impact injury. 2 appearances.
Madden - the new Chris O Grady. Brought very little. 20 appearances. Only started around 20% of those. 3 goals. Injuries. Major wage earner.
Drummond - looks out of his depth. Sent out on loan to lower league where very few goals scored. Back but now can?t get in squad. 14 appearances. 1 goal.
Duffy - very good signing. Probably wonders what is going on seeing as though benched and subbed last night when looked like only player of quality.
Olakigbe - all fur coat and no knickers. Looks lovely, zero impact and can?t defend or track back to save his life.
Sparkes - good signing however has been exposed last few weeks playing with sub standard defenders around him.
Markanday - outstanding talent. Knew was going to be recalled when permission was not going to be given for first round of cup.
Tanton - played 8 times and sent back due to injuries
Thompson - unable to keep number 1 jersey from boot. Only played 18 times. Cook obviously doubts his quality.
Metcalfe - injuries and lack of quality. 16 appearances and only started 1/4 of those. Looks out of his depth.
Pepple - struggling in a poor side. Holds a ball up but very little footballing intelligence to play up front on his own. 9 appearances, 2 goals (same game). Out of his depth in the formation played.
Araujo - looked classy around September time especially next to Dunkey. Injuries has cost him. Played only 18 times.
Fleck - disaster signing. can?t get him fit, can?t get him to shift weight. 4 appearances in the league and no starts. Signed September!
Donacien - another disaster signing. Can?t get him fit. String of injuries. 3 appearances only 1 start.
Akinola - cook clearly thinks out of his depth. Sent to non league twice. 2 sub appearances.

Doesn?t make good reading does it?

Never mind next season, with a few more defeats we will be dragged into a relegation battle
