Mate , I take your opinion with a pinch of salt. So knee jerk and thick , I always remember you and the usual suspects after the away performance at Morcambe when we lost 4-3 calling for changes and being overly critical?what happened that season in the end?

I don't get why he's so untouchable. 2 wins in 11 games but everything is ok. When it was Sheridan or pemberton people were on their backs straight away.

I think he has a lot of credit in the bank for last season, and his promotions and season previously, rightly so. It?s a results business, and if we?re are not up there next season, questions need asking.

Season 1 I?d give 4 out of 10
Season 2 I?d give 6.5 out of 10
Season 3 I?d give 8.5 out of 10
Season 4 I?d give 6 out of 10

Average 6.25 out of 10

Fair?

I?m dropping season 4 to a 4.5

Average 5.87

You call for changes after every defeat, doesn?t matter if we are top , mid table or bottom. Proper thick.

Where did you post in those days? No Bobs Board! Oh, thinking about it, I guess it was written with a 2B pencil on loo paper stuck on the wall of the bogs behind the Saltergate Kop.

Who do you (the guys wanting a change in manager) think would do a better job than Cookie?

He?s the most proven guy we?ve had at the helm for decades

I?m still 100% behind Cook. We?ve been scuppered by injuries and no manager could have done much better given that hand.
If anyone will get us promoted, Paul Cook will. Best Town manager in my 35-odd years of being a fan.
I never referred to him as a ?snake? either, unlike some.
We are worth watching, as the attendances show.

On recruitment. As far as I can see, Cook's 1st team for our first season in L2 for a while was to be something like this:

Tyrer

Tanton Dunkley Arajo Gordon

Naylor ?

Dobra ? ?

Grigg

Subs Madden, Mandeville, Berry ? ? ?

Tie Dobra down to a longer contract.

As we know, the club missed out on Tyrer but sorted a new back four and then sorted McFadzean when Dunkley got injured. Dobra has been tied to a longer deal. Fleck was worth a punt too.

With the level of injuries, staying in L2 will be a decent achievement this year. We'll have the platform for doing better next year.

There's no need to name names IMHO but we have a bulk of players in the final year of their contracts who got us out of non-league. Some of those players didn't always do consistently well for us in non-league and didn't always start for us when we were there. They'll be gone come the summer IMHO.

It is called loyalty. Tell me a club who has had sustained success by chopping and changing managers? I think the Kirks aspire to be above a 'hire and fire' club and I, for one, agree with that long-term strategy. Back the right person over the long-term and accept there will be blips along the way.

I agree, he shouldn?t be sacked but I do feel that some level of criticism and
scrutiny should be applied and it feels that just won?t be tolerated by a large basis of the fan base, the club and certainly not by Cook himself

It feels as though Cook shouldn’t be spoken about in anything but glowing terms in case he walks

The 2nd stint has been ok but by no means sensational

Football is changing.

The era of Pep-ball is over. PC needs to adapt. Hopefully that will happen in terms of recruitment and an adoption of a more fluid tactical approach over the summer.
