There is no way cook is chucking in palmer for his first appearance of the season tomorrow. Much as Naylor has been poor this year he will play I think. I can also see a recall for Thompson.

I think it will be

Thompson
JD
Naylor
Grimes
Sparkes

Banks
Metcalfe

Dobra
Duffy
Olakigbe

Pepple

Grigg on the bench would be a huge boost

Palmer has a mistake in him,as do all our defence (and not just the defence),but I agree with the defender in a defenders position absolutely.Injuries aside,it has been very perplexing at times regarding the back four.

It?s not just our defence, I would suggest all defenders at this level and even much higher, have mistakes in them. There was the Donny guy against us for the fifth goal. Good strikers are like 4 leaf clovers, but what is less observed is that good consistent defenders are also a rare breed. The Virgil Van Dykes are the exception rather than the rule.
As with goalkeepers you just have to hope to get ones who have a modicum of consistency. You are never going to eradicate mistakes altogether.

Just as Ryan and Morsy were the strength of Cook?s previous spell the same positions are the weaknesses of this squad. We partially solved it last season with Naylor but he is no longer the answer as he won?t regain his form at his age, whilst Oldaker is never going to be the answer. Not been particularly impressed with Metcalfe either who is no better than Akinola who must be on his way out permanently as he is on loan again. He hasn?t been given a decent chance in my opinion. Finally Banks is inconsistent and also past his best.

Donacien looked like he picked up a bit of a knock. I?d go:

Boot
Sheckleford Naylor Grimes Sparkes
Oldaker
Mandeville Banks Dobra Duffy
Peppe

Spot on, mate. They drove the team forward at every opportunity.

One thing Ryan and Morsy had, was energy. We are seriously lacking that in midfield. Banks can have all the skill in the world but, he's too slow for a Cook team.

Only 3 starters from the team that started at Crewe. That shows a few things. Not many more for them I don't think.

Six midfielders on the bench, but Colclough not amongst them. Is he injured (again)? If not it is starting to feel like the writing might be on the wall for him.

Maybe there was something in that automatic contract extension rumour? He has been poor recently though
Here we go again!

Strange that he was talking Drummond up and he's not even on the bench, especially given it's heavy bias to midfielders.
