As an aside can anybody remember the last time we played league matches on consecutive days. It?s one of my bits of Spireite trivia.

I'm sure we played Boxing Day and 27th Dec in 94/95, home v Donny and then away to Northampton.

That?s the one I think as well.
Really strange that it was since they done it and never done it since, I think there was a full programme like that in the EFL.

My mind might be playing tricks but thought BL had the Blue Bell.
Best pint of Mansfield c1968.

Yes, David Layne had the Bluebell, but then took over the Castle Arms at the bottom of Bolsover hill. Pete Swan was landlord at the St Helens Inn on Stonegravels and the pub supported a Sunday League team which, when it first started was called Stonegravels Swan Athletic. (Later named St Helens FC). He took over the Three Horse Shoes at Brim in the late 70's, and later moved to the `Great Western Hotel' at Wheeldon Mill, which was renamed `The Mill'

Thanks. I left town in the 70s and went back in years later for a nostalgic quiet pint. I opened the door and was hit by a wave of loud music which shattered the elusion.
I think Alan Walters’ lad ran it at one time, might be wrong.

I think we also played on 30th and possibly New Year's Day or 2nd January. Seemed mad at the time, lunacy now.

Thanks chaps I'm all befuddled now, memory failing. I'm convinced we called in the St on one occasion probably doing the Neppy, Arms etc and DBL was behind the bar perhaps just helping Swanny out.

When you mention the Blue Bell I presume it was the one in town and not Bolsover, we didn't frequent that very often having to supp Nansfield in the Saltergate Club and the Gardeners was enough.

Honestly not being pedantic mate, but it was the Great Central. My first legal (well, illegal) pint. Was run by a little bald headed fella called Vic, looked like Gandhi.

Not being funny, Jon, but that's all over the place. It has us playing two games on consecutive days; some of the dates of games are way off.

Really? When, 1920 season? 😂 I was looking at the 80s seasons and it's showing games on consecutive days - I think my memory is shot because, I have no recollection of that happening.

Not sure where the data comes from, interestingly another site has the same with games on 26th and 27th December :-
http://www.englishfo...eld/1994-95.htm

Also this file from the Sky is Blue Chesterfield history site that lists all games by the date of the month they were played lists games on both the 26th Dec 1994 and 27th Dec 1994 and Soccerbase has the same info for goal scorers as well which suggests the Soccerbase data is right.

Looks pretty good to me.

Back to the Wrexham bit, back in "75? a few of us were in Benidorm when we saw a poster advertising a match v Wrexham (pre season)so naturally we popped along. Beer in bottles was available I had an almost full bottle resting on the perimeter wall when Ian Moir sped down the wing like a slug nicked my beer proceeded to sup it on the pitch, and gave me the empty back. I wanted to call him a thieving Welsh ***, good job I didn't he was a Jock which made it more understandable

As a teenager I always wandered who the old bloke was walking round the ground at half time with the board

I remember at a match on a snow covered pitch he had to use the board as a shield because he was being pelted by snowballs as he walked along the track behind the goal at the Kop end
