Nowadays I?m an interested bystander
But my first game was
Dec 16th 1967
Tahn 4 Crewe 1 Randall hat trick crowd 12345

September 13th 1986 was the day I stormed down Foljambe Road promising myself I?d never go again
Tahn 0 Bristol City 3 crowd 2605
Ernie Moss couldn?t be bothered to chase a slightly over hit pass .. I figured Ernie has given up so have I
Been back maybe 20 times in last ? nearly ? 40 years
My loss not Tahns
Oh and Baines v Derby wasn?t a penalty

It shouldn't have even been a goal, Ernie absolutely clattered there keeper from a corner for Baines to poke it home!

Whilst reminiscing about our first game ,has anyone gone on to follow Prem/Championship teams instead?Personally,I have only ever been a Spireite, when asked if I was interested in football I said for years no,I follow Chesterfield and England!

I lived in Croydon from the late 80's to the early 90's, which coincided with probably some of Palace's best years (Ian Wright & Mark Bright up top).
The first house I bought was about a 10 minute walk from Selhurst Park so I went quite a lot to get my football fix. In those days, I couldn't afford the travelling expense to Chesterfield and back.
I wouldn't say I'm a Palace fan by any stretch of the imagination, but it is the second result I look for after Towns.

Macclesfield away FA cup '92 being the coldest

Funny thing about that game , we went in the car and pulled up right outside the ground , dad got out to ask what he thought was a steward to see where we could park and it turned out to be Jeff Winter who was the ref for that game!!😂😂.

Swindon at home 03/04. Hadn't won until that game. Not a bad ending to the season either 😏

It was a stinker of a day. The return journey over the tops being horrendous. I was driving a self drive mini bus and having been in Bollington at midday my companions were well oiled and what with the cold weather comfort breaks were in regular demand. The blizzard conditions making stopping in appropriate places interesting and close on suicidal.

The replay gave us the unenviable and unmovable record of being the 1st football league club to go out of the FA cup in a penalty shoot out to a none league team.

I was travelling from Leek just down the road. I remember the report in the paper describing us as "clod hopping Chesterfield". How we escaped with a draw that day is still beyond me, as was the gulf in performance from the Liverpool games only a few weeks prior.

The first cpl of minutes from this clip are of the 2-2 replay and subsequent shoot out defeat at Saltergate. Memorable for probably one of the greatest overhead kick goals you?ll ever see anywhere, courtesy of Lee Turnbull. I can?t find any footage of the Siberian first game though, probably a good job!

If my memory serves me well I'm sure Macc hit the crossbar from about 40 yards out (in the first game).

September 1st 1962 at Saltergate for me watching us play Lincoln and it finished 2-2.
My Dad took me and I just remember the noise of the crowd particularly when we scored and it was a decent 6500 or so.
I managed to get the program only a few years ago but it has a special place in my collection of CFC memorabilia

I'm pretty sure Jack scored for Grimsby in the replay cos I remember thinking how I'd love a player like that on our team lol

We were absolutely pathetic in that replay after doing brilliantly to force the replay in the first place.

Can't remember the match or year, tbh, but it will have been around 1970, when I was around 4.
Luckily my dad had swapped allegiance from Sheffield Wednesday in 1964 (the year before I was born).
Following the Gauld, Swan and Kay betting scandal he said 'sod this cheating lot' and started watching Town. Being from Eckington I can forgive him for being an Owl in his youth. Better that than a blade.

I know i had been taken to earlier matches but my first memory is beating Port vale 4-1 at home in the 1959/60 season
I remember we had just signed Alex Bain from a team in Scotland and that he was going to solve all our goalscoring problems according to my father lol
we used to sit in the Cross street wing stand but I vividly remember having a long sporting day at the start of the 61/62 season when after watching derbyshire play in the Queens park we started that season with a 630 kick off at home to Workington and my father must have thought i was big enough to go on the terraces because walking up the steps at the corner of the kop i looked in amazement at the size of the main stand that we previously sat in

oh and we lost the match against workington 1-0

i think my first away match was hull on easter monday 1961 on the East Midland coaches that went to most away matches at that time

My first away match was a last minute 3:2 defeat to 10 man Wrexham in November 96. We went on a Football in the Community bus which I think was run by Adie Shaw.

Aye, we were behind the goal, top tier of the seated area. We parked a few streets away and had a lovely reception upon returning to the car.

Pretty sure Swan went on to run The Mill pub at Brim, near the canal. Could be wrong, I thought Steve Bains scored a pen against Derby (it was a header)....I blame the 90s dance scene 👀

Yes, it certainly kicked off after that match. Our bus was parked on the main road outside the ground and they were scrapping in-between the parked busses. Also my first experience of seeing football violence!
