First away game. Like my first home game which concluded a relegation season my first away game was a disaster a 5-1 defeat at Notts C with Ralph Hunt getting sent off.

Reading through it's significant how many folks first games ended in defeat, but the Spireite bug had taken hold.

Regarding your second sentence,I was about to post exactly the same comment.Seems the majority of us must have been predisposed to being Spireites?

Although there were earlier games dating back to 1924 the first game I was allowed to go on my own ended in defeat 0-1 against Doncaster 1968, bad referee, dubious penalty (although I may be making that up).

Bludy L that's the 2nd penalty mentioned, such rare memorable moments.

I think you can stop panicking, I'm sure Steve Baines scored with a header against Derby

Nowadays I?m an interested bystander
But my first game was
Dec 16th 1967
Tahn 4 Crewe 1 Randall hat trick crowd 12345

September 13th 1986 was the day I stormed down Foljambe Road promising myself I?d never go again
Tahn 0 Bristol City 3 crowd 2605
Ernie Moss couldn?t be bothered to chase a slightly over hit pass .. I figured Ernie has given up so have I
Been back maybe 20 times in last ? nearly ? 40 years
My loss not Tahns
Oh and Baines v Derby wasn?t a penalty

I know, hence my "memorable"quip.
Would you trust Steve Baines with a penalty? then again would you trust Jamie (he may have scored in a penalty shoot out though).

we had a sweep at school every friday on who would be towns first goalscorer the next day sixpence a go (young uns ask your grandad lol }
Randall scoring first against Crewe was the only time I ever won it

Also even though the conditions were near perfect as I recall for some reason the match was played with an orange ball

My first game was Chesterfield 4-4 Oldham Athletic, FA Cup Round 2, 26th November 1960. We won the replay 3-0 before losing to Blackburn Rovers in Round 3.

A few days before Christmas 1963 against Bradford Park Avenue and we lost 2-1. I was 7 years old.
I remember being introduced to Saltergate and Chesterfield Football Club at that time was the most exciting thing and that day has stuck in my mind for over 61 years. I think there were only a few thousand there but up to that point in my life I had never been in a crowd of that many people and the atmosphere and noise of it all is something I will never forget.
The best Christmas present ever. Thanks Dad if you're reading this up there.

April 1979 Lincoln City at home. Lost 3-1, Glen Cockerill pulling the strings for Lincoln. Loved every minute although I was a bit confused at first when there was no commentator having only seen football on Match Of The Day up till then!

Peterborough away, FA Cup. 3rd January 1981. 1-1. I can remember chuff all of the game though I too was confused that there was no commentary. I remember having a can of strawberry flavoured pop in the car on the way though. I've always been a details man.

Tommy Flockett cleared one off the line with a bicycle kick, can see it now.
Don?t ask me what I did yesterday.

Jim Smallwood two headers in last few minutes ?

That was after Donnie in the first round.
And who did we get in the first round next season? Donnie. Second round - Oldham (unfortunately a loss this time round, after a replay.
