Town v Derby I think it was 85/86 season; 1-0 with a Steve Bains penalty (if my memory is correct).

Bludy L that's the 2nd penalty mentioned, such rare memorable moments.

CFC 0 Hereford 0, 1983-4. The most remorselessly dull game of football I had ever seen in my life. Here we are!

Is that the one where a player fell into Compton?

Chris Price I think. Went on to play for Villa. Think it was a bit later than that

8th November 1997

Played them again in the FA Cup 2nd Round at theirs a month later, equalised to get a 2 all draw and I remember falling through the hoardings at the front, but then we lost the replay as well as an Auto Windscreen game around the same time

Played them 4 times in a period of about a month

My first game was 5th October 1993 when we lost to Wycombe 2v3 at home, second was New Years Day losing at home to Shrewsbury, I kinda recall either one of Mick Leonard or Chris Marples suffering a bad injury in one of the first two

That period between 94 and 98 was one of the most glorious, admittedly I had no prior experience of football to compare it too 🤣

Sounds right. It was the main game on goals on Sunday the day after.
Here we go again!

1st one I remember, although there could be some before it, was the pre season friendly against Italian side Lanerossi in 1970 I believe, think we won 3-1

Having spent my early years living in Australia my first game was a 2-0 win at home against Chester on 7th April 1980 and believe Ian Rush was playing for Chester. My first away game was at Huddersfield on 15th November 1980 which ended ina 2-0 defeat.

And he looked a player and a half then. There's probably fans up and down the land bragging that Ian Rush scored against them whilst playing for Chester, it is a kind of honour though 😁.

I definitely went to games before this but the one I vividly remember is Bristol City at home in august 2003. 1-1 draw. Dad bought me my first season ticket in one of those little booklets and we sat towards the kop in the wooded seats of the family stand. Never looked back.

I feel like we drew 1-1 loads in the first few home games of that season?

Edit: I?ve just checked the results and we started the season without a win in 14 games. Talk about easing me into life supporting CFC, dad!

Mine was against Bury in 1980. My notebook has it as a 2-0 win. I went with Dean Kirk and our dads.

Jamie Hewitt missed the penalty at the Kop end, and Steve Baines scored the winner at late on following a corner from Gerry Armstrong if memory has it.

I was a ball boy that day in front of the main stand sat next to the Derby dugout.

Went on the pitch afterwards and got pelted by Derby fans with snowballs 😂😂😂

1978 a 2-0 win at home versus Port Vale. I think Les Hunter and Rodney Fern scored for us. Nothing sparkling of a game but enough to grab me forever.

Maybe it's skewed by history but I remember that season quite fondly, probably due to the finale.

Obviously the Luton game was the standout but 4:2 v QPR and 3:1 v Wednesday were really, really good days at Saltergate.

Definitely. We were penniless and scraped by - it felt like us against the world. That opening day at Wrexham must have been the warmest ever watching CFC.
