3-0 v Exeter last game of the 79/80 season.

As we were still nippers at that time me and our youth went sporadically for a few years after that, but coming from a family of Town fans it was merely a case of when, rather than if, we'd go regularly.

I guess like a lot of us, it was when we started at secondary school and you could go with your mates and stand on the Kop is when the bug hit hard.

Reeves' debut. He scored, won 1-0 vs grimsby. Must be October 97 (without checking)

8th November 1997

Played them again in the FA Cup 2nd Round at theirs a month later, equalised to get a 2 all draw and I remember falling through the hoardings at the front, but then we lost the replay as well as an Auto Windscreen game around the same time

Played them 4 times in a period of about a month

My first game was 5th October 1993 when we lost to Wycombe 2v3 at home, second was New Years Day losing at home to Shrewsbury, I kinda recall either one of Mick Leonard or Chris Marples suffering a bad injury in one of the first two

That period between 94 and 98 was one of the most glorious, admittedly I had no prior experience of football to compare it too 🤣

Can't remember the game, it must have been the sixties because I recall Ernie Moss, Randall, Kettleborough and Pugh. Buying all the gear Bobble hat, scarf, and rattle which would be classed as a weapon these days.

My dad tells me that he used to take me to reserve games when I was very young but I can't really remember anything about them, apart from tipping seats up and down in the centre stand rather than watching the match....much to his annoyance!

The first game I can really remember being at was sitting in the wing stand watching a 1-1 draw with Peterborough, and checking back that would have been 6th September 1975.

1983 Boro at home in the league cup, me and a few mates from school down the front of the kop behind the goal when the winning penalty went in.

Sporadic attendance until I started going semi-regularly to home games 86 onwards, then 87/88 season started going away with Beanhead, Paul Bates, Alan and Keith Round, great times.

I'm pretty sure Jack scored for Grimsby in the replay cos I remember thinking how I'd love a player like that on our team lol

I went to several matches from 1960 onwards, but the one that stands out as the first I remember properly was Town at home to Wrexham on boxing day 1961, and I think we lost 1-5. What a welcome to being a 5 year old Spireite lol.

Having spent my early years living in Australia my first game was a 2-0 win at home against Chester on 7th April 1980 and believe Ian Rush was playing for Chester. My first away game was at Huddersfield on 15th November 1980 which ended ina 2-0 defeat.

I can?t recall my first game, but I know it would have been 59-60. Went with my Dad and Granddad,, the latter had a season ticket in the Centre stand. Those days the only raffle was to win the ?match ball?, the winning number being displayed on a board carried round the pitch by a volunteer. Granddad won the ball that day, but instead of giving it to me, as the one in attendance, later gave to his oldest Grandchild, my cousin. One of lifes hard lessons. Dont presume anything.
I was a regular by 60/61.

I seem to remember Chris Marples having two bad injuries here, one a broken leg, although I?m not sure about that, and another a badly dislocated shoulder when spun round and dived to stop a ball on the line at the kop end.

April 1979 Lincoln City at home. Lost 3-1, Glen Cockerill pulling the strings for Lincoln. Loved every minute although I was a bit confused at first when there was no commentator having only seen football on Match Of The Day up till then!

First away game. Like my first home game which concluded a relegation season my first away game was a disaster a 5-1 defeat at Notts C with Ralph Hunt getting sent off.

Reading through it's significant how many folks first games ended in defeat, but the Spireite bug had taken hold.

I think my first away game was the 1-0 away win at Mansfield ?75, but not 100% certain. The first game away game I actually drove to in my own car, a rusty Chrysler Avenger, was the 0-0 draw at Peterborough were we clinched the Div 4 title in ?85.

Town v Derby I think it was 85/86 season; 1-0 with a Steve Bains penalty (if my memory is correct).

I know i had been taken to earlier matches but my first memory is beating Port vale 4-1 at home in the 1959/60 season
I remember we had just signed Alex Bain from a team in Scotland and that he was going to solve all our goalscoring problems according to my father lol
we used to sit in the Cross street wing stand but I vividly remember having a long sporting day at the start of the 61/62 season when after watching derbyshire play in the Queens park we started that season with a 630 kick off at home to Workington and my father must have thought i was big enough to go on the terraces because walking up the steps at the corner of the kop i looked in amazement at the size of the main stand that we previously sat in

oh and we lost the match against workington 1-0

i think my first away match was hull on easter monday 1961 on the East Midland coaches that went to most away matches at that time
