Retrospective maybe, what's good for the goose etc etc. Oh no that didn't work for the Notts lad, it only appears to happen when no one sees it, apart from a club official whilst having a chat withe an assessor.

Can't have any retrospective on that, ref carded and dealt with it at the time

A lot of good points but I disagree that this season was always going to be one of consolidation. It?s true it?s probably turned into that, but I don?t think that was ever a view from the top.
The previous seasons signings of Grigg and Naylor, for me at least, was clearly done not only with the original target of winning the league but with one eye on pushing on again this season. Add this years signings of the experience and quality of Dunkley and Madden, the long term loans of Markanday, Metcalfe, Tanton and Arujo, all done for stability and a settled season, I think top 7 would have been the very realistic goal for both the owners and management. I certainly don?t think they viewed it as a consolidation season. In fact as recently as the Bradford away game when we went 1-0 up we were second in the live table, but as we now know injuries have done for us. Too many injuries coupled with too many signings. I certainly don?t view this season s a disaster after we?re we?ve been these last few years, but I think many will view the end result as a disappointment. That?s not to say I?m not fully behind Cook, the Kirk?s and the club going forward, just that we?ve hit a bit of a big bump in the road these last few weeks resulting in the wheels wobbling somewhat.

Top post Merc i agree with all of that

For me Pepple should score from the corner in the 2nd half.
Grigg would of adjusted his body to finish that.

Was the pitch and conditions that big a factor for our dire display, Tyrone's injury being in the heads of the players, I can understand that, if that was the case.

Need to bounce back on Saturday

We didn't see owt untoward and thought he'd blown early, possibly he'd made his mind up that Swindon were getting a free kick for whatever with him thinking he'd missed something earlier in the build up.

Didn't see at the time but the full match replay shows Pepple blocked off the keeper. In fact he did the same in the corner immediately before without punishment but the keeper pointed it out to the referee so it was fresh in his mind. The moral of that story, don't repeat the same tactic 30 seconds apart.

You're right (it had to happen, joke) it's the irony bit, you have to laugh at, the same chap lost the plot at Gillingham and sent Dunkley off for nowt, letter of apology received. He disallowed a perfectly good goal at Gillingham as it seems he did yesterday and the ironies of ironies Swindons winner comes from a penalty (not saying it wasn't doubt we'd have got it though)when we was denied one of the most obvious pens in the previous game with them possibly denying us 2 points

Just love ironies.

I'll look out for that, was it similar to what Walsall (most teams do) did?

Having been at Swindon and Cheltenham recently, I thought yesterday was a massive downgrade of performance despite the same score. The issue yesterday was central midfield, or the complete lack of a central midfield. I don't think it was the fault of either central midfielder, but we missed the guile of Naylor in that position and I think Oldaker would have done much better than we saw yesterday too. The issue is without control and willingness to play through the centre, we look very one dimensional and it means less space for Dobra and the two wide players.

Pepple got bullied by their defenders, and had such a lack of support. I was hoping that when Madden came on, we would go two up and try and fight them. Alas it didn't happen and we looked really poor.

I think Cookie has a lot to think about now.

However, I don't really care about yesterday, my hope is purely on Ty being ok.

All teams do it although Pepple wasn?t just standing on top of the keeper, he ran in to position very late when the corner was taken. As I said doing twice in 30 seconds was probably the mistake as the referee would?ve been watching after the keeper moaned. I reckon if that had happened on the first corner we would?ve got away it and the goal would stand.

I didn"t think you could apply retrospective punishment if the player had already been punished.

I think retrospective action can?t be done if it?s deemed to have been seen by the officials and the action they felt appropriate has been done even if no action is taken. Guy yesterday was booked so nothing further will happen other than probably another letter from the FA saying the wrong decision was made.

The Notts guy appears to have got away with it even though I think it was missed during the game.

Haa! Someone sees the intended irony in my two posts on that particular subject

Normally I'd be steaming after a performance like that but with what happened to Ty it seems a bit churlish.

The formation was weird one for me and I couldn't work out what we were playing half the time and the players seem confused also. Dobs played really deep and this made him ineffective. We didn't keep possession like we would normally and I think we missed Oldaker pulling the strings in all honesty.

I'm not overly convinced by Pepple but Madden was no better when we came on. Again with hindsight I may have to eat some humble pie on criticism of Grigg and what he brings to the team.

I think its hard to gauge how much Ty's injury affected the performance but looking back it clearly must have. A mate said he met Keiron Dyer at the train station and he said it's all anyone was bothered about and the result wasn't what was important today.

Anyway, result and performance aside it was a great day out. Watched the rugby in the pub, met up with some old friends and even had the honour of shaking hands with DIFH!!

Bon chance Tyrone Williams!!
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!
