Not playing mandeville is criminal

He's brought in Olakigbe to play right of the three, that much is clear. A vastly different sort of player and one that shows promise but he doesn't necessarily fit the mould of a Cook player in the way Mandeville does. With Dobra drifting left it does leave space on the right that can be exploited. Unless there's a tweak of the system again, I don't see Mandy in the starting XI now unless it's in the middle where he did well. Would we have coped better with their second half shift up the pitch and press with him there instead of Oldaker? Instead of Naylor? Perhaps.

There is a case for Mandy to be starting every game especially away from home. I think we may find a new centre midfield pairing next year. Oldaker and Naylor are not up to it.

The manager of the league's top team felt they had to get a grip on Oldaker to change the game. One could conclude from that that the division's top manager thinks Oldaker is a good player.

Also, this video shows Oldaker in a very favourable light. He never loses the ball.

Back to the drawing board for some posters.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

Can see Colclough gone, sadly been very ineffective this season.

Hopefully Metcalfe and Thompson don?t return.

Priority for me is a goalkeeper that belongs to us that has league 2 and possibly 1 pedigree.

From names I heard before Christmas as targets for the summer, all positions we are weak in will be improved.

Let us start with all the positions we are weak in, Gordon, which ones are they?

Fair play. I retract the line re Oldaker. He rarely gives the ball away however I think he needs someone with legs alongside him.

The Oldaker in or out seems to be the debate: in my opinion, he?s too pedestrian with the ball, sideways and backwards. Offers nothing going forward apart from the odd free kick. I may be old fashioned but I want more from a CM.
Next game I?d be playing Banks and Mandy: with Naylor struggling at the moment when we attack we basically are 4 against 7 with Sparkes trying to make it 5. At times in the last 30mins yesterday we had no one in the box when we were attacking!!

Mandeville?! Is this a serious post?

First of all, let me say, Mandeville should be offered a deal beyond this season.

Then, I will admit I was less than impressed with his performances during his first 2 seasons with us and felt he was inferior at times to the likes of Joe Rowley.

Disappointingly, he has had a relatively poor season this time round and so far has failed to score a single goal which, quite simply, is not at all good enough when he is part of the attacking 4.

Importantly, though, he does not hide, has become a bit of a utility man, can play in a number of positions, etc which is very important when the squad is limited in size.

As for Thompson he isn?t a patch on boot, I?d put him slightly ahead on shot stopping and on penalties but in every other department and certainly distribution he is light years behind, looking forward to telling Bucky that

Not sure how you have been able to assess his ability on penalties this season.

Have you seen him save one?

I didn't realise he'd not scored at all this season but you're right. He's now ticked over 2000 minutes for the season (admittedly some in a more defensive role), but not to have scored is worrying. He'd scored 6 at this point (date-wise) last season.

Didn?t Thompson save the a penalty v Notts County? Only for the player to react quicker to put in the rebound

Cook has certainly made subtle changes bringing in Olakigbe, Sparkes, Duffy as they are more direct and like an early cross. Whether it is a change for the best remains to be seen.

Mandeville is already contracted until 2026 so hopefully he is still in Cook's plans

Not bothered if Colclough leaves, infact it might be for the best. That won?t be popular.

I think his replacement is already in the building. Duffy.

He hasn?t scored yet, but he is joint top on number of assists this season.

All positions. GK, Defence, Midfield and Upfront. Very few to be retained I am led to believe.

It'll be the end of an Era that's for sure.

I hope the club organises something for the fans to say thanks to those leaving as there will be so many leave who got us back in to the league.
Here we go again!
