Lots of Town folk knew John East who died around Xmas. Any road up Paul Fairclough, England 'C' Manager and lifelong friend of John gave an Eulogy at his funeral which was all football related. He said he's very often asked what the very first indication is that a very young lad/lass might have a future in football. His answer - first touch with both foot. Food for thought for grandads like me who have addicted grandkids, boys and girls.
Don't know whether that might be discussed tonight and please excuse the waffle but some folk might find it interesting.

What a great statement by Neill Hornby, "We have a duty to protect the football club".

I'd have to listen again to get the exact quote, but I'm sure he also said that summat exciting is in the pipeline. Pity it wasn't followed up a bit.

What a player he was too. He's still one of my favourite England players of all time. He gave everything to both club and country from day one till the last time he kicked a ball in anger.

It was. I think he played for Donny and Brentford as well. My grandad used to say he dropped out of league football for the money. He and Jeff Astle (former WBA and England) signed for Kettering, or someone like that, as the chairman was throwing silly money at players. Sadly he passed away a couple of years ago.
