PC and the Kirks must think we still have a chance of promotion if they are investing more on deadline day. I'm afraid I no longer share their optimism as we probably need close to two points a game with some tough looking games on the horizon. When to quit and when to Stick?

We need to win on Thursday and it won't be remotely easy. They've won their last 2 away and 5 of the last 6 in the league as well as a cup win on penalties. They will also think they owe us one. The only positive angle I can come up with is their cup game fast approaching as Thursday wouldn't seem to suit them at all.

Needed to maintain the momentum and it looks like PC and the Kirks thought the same with the amount of investment they put into the squad.

The goal was a combination of cock ups and, in my opinion, Ty dropped far too deep. I'd have to ask Bonnyman but I'm sure the coaching manual says mark the player not the space. Cook obviously is of a mind to blame somebody but he's too much of a gentleman to name him/them.

Thompson got 1866 MOM.

I haven't watched the goal back, but at the time there did seem to be a number of issues; an overload on the left, and the usual frustrating backing off the man with the ball (which seems to be widespread in football generally). There also seemed to be a possible foul in the build up, but by that stage the ref had gone into 'decision drawn out of a tombola' mode.

I was right behind the shot and Thompson seemed largely unsighted for it, so I wouldn't necessarily blame him for the goal, it was a decent save mainly. I'm surprised he was MoM though. He may make a decent keeper but he's going to need to improve his distribution hugely. We really miss Tyrer this season.

Getting a decent striker in on Monday will hardly be cheap, and then he may well not gel. I'm so glad that I don't have to deal with the negotiations for this one, plus we have several who'll need to go out on loan, probably Akinola, Hobson and Drummond at a minimum. We can probably add Campbell and Palmer too.

Imo :
Hobson needs the game time as i see him as part of our squad going fotward,so yes.
If another striker comes in with Grigg apparently close to a return, so yes
Palmer could do with the game time but another injury to a CB means Naylor going back there, so no
Akinola still needs to prove himself consistent, so yes
DVC defo needs to get out there and play some games as hardly played this season, so yes

Remember we have Donacien, who can cover the whole back four positions. I like Ash Palmer,so I'd like to keep him here, but I'm thinking of fitting everyone into the squad.

You're right, forgot about JD.
But thinking about it not so straight forward.
JD came off in his last match due to 'feeling it' I think his previous injury.
Palmer, albeit hardly any game time, was partners of Grimes and Williams so know how each other operate - to a certain degree.
At the moment we have in the CB department:
Grimes - fit
Williams - carrying injury
Palmer - fit but no game time
Donacien - fit(ish) come off with injury hardly any game time
Naylor - no thanks

I'd like to think that Williams gets through to the end of the season without further problems with his shoulder but I always think of Bryan Robson and the trouble he had with his shoulder. I'd like to see Tyrone Williams get another year if we're still in league 2 next season, because he's good enough as a backup. Hopefully Donacien is ok and comes back without a problem.

You could also argue that selling Berry, shifting Markandy off the wages without a fight & potentially losing Dobra for a decent fee that Cook & the Kirks are happy with a top 12 finish, moving lots of OOC players out, (who have promotion contract clauses) and throwing the kitchen sink at it next season. Allegedly.

I?d say the Kirks are spot on and very wise to do so, if this is the case!

its a pity we could not have sorted ticketing out ,we have missed out on donny selling all the away end, which has cost us 20k,evening crowds are always down and it would have been a 9k crowd

It is apparent that most of the NL squad are good enough for backups in L2 if not better than that.

This league is nothing special

Diagnose the causes for that goal all you want but the keeper spilled the ball at the forwards feet for a tap in

Putting home fans in the North Stand was always going to lose money for certain games. The owners obviously think that is a price worth paying to have fans on 4 side. Perhaps they were expecting us to do better this season and fill the North Stand more often

I seriously do not think the owners are at all disappointed with the gates this season.

Who said they were?

I was replying to Bonnyman regarding the Doncaster fixture and how the club will lose out on revenue. I was just pointing out that fixture is not a one off. They obviously realised they would lose out on individual fixtures when the away side brought circa 2000 and were happy with that loss.

What so difficult to understand?

Less VAT and the extra cost of stewarding etc.

Probably more like ?10k we?ll miss, which will be much less than the North stand makes for the other 22 home games it is open to home fans for.

Add in Notts County, Grimsby, then Bradford City plus others that may have brought in over 1000.

Not sure the North Stand experiment makes pure financial sense throughout the season. Obviously there are less tangible advantages but it will be interesting to see if the experiment continues next season.
