Thursday is a bit weird. Sky?

Good that they'll have an eye on their cup game though.

It will be on the Sky Sports+ service in any event

Yes a bit odd. Wednesday might have been the obvious decision, then a normal midweek game for both teams and Donny then have an extra day before the Palace game.

It will, but wondered if it was scheduled for their main channel(s) hence the day selected. Either way it would seem to suit us better than them.

Sky already have two games that evening so red button at best unless it falls foul of the rule about it originally being a 3pm Saturday game so cant be shown on the red button.

Burton Albion 20:00 Blackpool
League 1, Sky Sports Football (20:00)

Liverpool 20:00 Tottenham Hotspur
Carabao Cup - Semi-Final, Sky Sports Football (20:00)

Was not expecting that, wonder if Donny have had their arm twisted!

Glad we?ve got a home game in February now though, was thinking it might be 18 Feb for the Gillingham game, but that would be three midweek games in a row for the Gills, which they won?t want.

Ah ok, thought it might have been a 'blank' night they were looking to fill.

I thought I remembered postponed games at to be arranged asap to prevent any backlog piling up at the end of the season, so if both us and Gillingham were free then it can rearranged, the fact they?d have three midweek games in a row wouldn?t matter.

Not sure about asap - the National League had a rule that games should be rearranged within six weeks, but I don?t know about the EFL. The Salford game is happening two months after the original date - for Gillingham to be rearranged in a similar timescale 18 Feb is the only midweek that?s free for both teams, but I can see why Gillingham would try to resist that date.

For some reason it just seems to ring a bell without any research on my part. Early 90s?

The last league match on a Thursday that wasn't a Boxing Day or Jan 1st game was probably Watford away on April 21st 1997, when we were playing catch-up after the Cup run.
It's nice to be able to Trust again.

I sent an email to the EFL earlier this week after getting frustrated waiting for a date as wanting to make plans asking a similiar question as to if there was a minimum period of notice to give to fans of a re-arranged fixture the response was as below

Thank you for your e-mail, we appreciate you getting in touch.

There is no minimum notice period for a rearranged fixture, each rearrangement is viewed on its own merits with the two Clubs in dialogue with the EFL to confirm a suitable date. Once a rearranged date has been agreed by the Clubs and the EFL, Clubs will announce this via their usual channels.

Thank you for contacting the EFL.

Kind Regards

Danny

Just to update my own post, 18 Feb would actually mean four successive midweek games for Gillingham.
