Extract from an article about George Carline's wider situation (written by Paul Fisher I think)
On October 5 last year, Chesterfield met Wrexham in a clash of clubs desperate to join the EFL and a players studs went into Carline's knee
I tried to play through it says Carline. In the second half, when I was on my standing foot to volley, my leg just gave way. The bone pulled my kneecap apart into two pieces.
The top half of Carline kneecap was sucked up into his thigh muscles. The surgeon who operated on him said it was an injury he had only seen previously in car-crash victims.
Sounds like questions should have been asked of someone
He did well, but was wrong to carry on playing. I had a cracked kneecap while at work, and it's something I'd rather not repeat. Carline is certainly a better man than me, because I tried to get up with a bit of help and my leg just buckled and the kneecap popped up. I had it relocated at hospital but they then found it cracked as though a bullet had hit it. Mr Carline my estimation of you as a man has just grown ten fold.
