Ps I'm not saying JB's transfer ( should it happen) will be the same, it just seems the norm at around this level..

Does it really matter that much? I'm just hoping we turn a good profit if we sell JB. Figures will get bandied around on here...some accurate some not depending on the source, but ultimately when the accounts are published the truth will come out and it's a question that can be asked at the AGM which again would have be answered openly!

Luckily for us, CFC always publish full accounts. We will be able to see the total for fees received in the 2025 accounts. Hopefully we dont sell anyone else, so we can see exactly what we got for Berry.
Before add on fees for say appearances and an International Call Up of course.

Wycombe buy James Berry. Chesterfield announce they have sold James Berry for ?400k. Chesterfield approach team X to purchase player Y. Price has just gone up 30% now team X know Chesterfield have and extra ?400k coming in.

When you say ?get away with it? what do you mean? Costa wouldn?t broadcast to their customer how much their machines cost or how much a coffee costa to prepare?
They?re not breaking any rules and all fees have to be paid via the FA IIRC so the people that need to know will do.
And FWIW I think that most top level clubs declare the fees paid/received as some sort of badge of honour.

The good news seems to be that its being reported Wycombe have won a bit of a bidding war. Usually means well for the selling club.

I will ask the question directly at the next AGM and post on here if it isn't screamingly obvious from the accounts. The Kirks have maintained their commitment to publish full accounts and my perenial question will also always be....What was the playing budget? As you know the total club wages are always lumped together....and the same with NI and pension contributions!I
It just takes a few months to find out!!!

Unfortunately it wont be in the accounts at the next AGM, they will be the 2024 accounts.

I know hence it will take a few months to find out. But the Kirks are astute and despite wherever sell on clause Macc may have I am confident we will have made a minimum 100k profit if not double...

Stops other clubs from bumping up their asking price, dampens our fans expectations - nothing changes.

It?s of no advantage to anyone to announce the fee. It?s to our detriment if we do.
In the passage of time the figure will become apparent

Dont tell Kieran Maguire. He has made a second career out of looking at football clubs accounts.

We don't want to wait that long though
I think it's clubs not wanting criticism from fans of both sides over the fee

But surely this is the polar opposite of the Eoin Doyle thing on pretty much every level.
Perhaps the deal's just right for CFC and we have to have a little faith in the brothers...
