Is that right? I thought it was just a case that he's fit but just not trained properly due to the frozen ground and they decided to give him a bit more time on the grass. Trouble is injury info is so garbled or contradictory at times it is hard to keep up. If he has just started to train you are probably correct although he hasn't been out that long. oHwever it will likely be Hobson again, or perhaps Drummond.

I am embarrassed

I read it on here and took it to be true which is perhaps foolish.

As one door closes another one opens.

We now have a loan space available to us. Could Blackburn soften the blow by allowing McFadzean to come to us on a favourable deal?

I liked Markanday a lot but felt having him, Dobra and Drummond playing together made us very lightweight. We have just gained a more robust player in Pepple and it showed against Rotherham. If someone like McFadzean came in it would allow Naylor to move into midfield thus strengthening 2 positions with just one signing. Bringing Naylor into midfield allows Mandeville to move to the right of our three.

It seems to me that Grigg is going to be out for a little time yet and because of that I still think we need another robust striker to supplement the squad should Pepple become unavailable for whatever reason. An U21 player such as Brown would be ideal as he can also operate from wide too.

I think there might be a few of the long term injured players coming out of the 22 in January as well, with some places held open similar to what we did with Horton, etc. so I guess there could be scope for a permanent signing or two if we can find one
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

Trouble is these players taken out the squad still need paying. The squad is huge and ideally we need a serious cull of players in this window. With so many injured who is going to take them. Once fit we might get rid of a few to the NL but what % of the wage will they pay?

Look at the out of contract list come May - that?s 4/5 monthly pay days to consider, the gates we?ve been getting should give us plenty of wiggle room. We don?t have to be held to ransom.
God I hate this league.

Lets talk Hobson then :)

No, we do actually need a direct replacement

At the beginning of the season there was a general opinion that only one player, when fit, should be considered to play on the right side of our three. That player is still with us - Liam Mandeville.

If we can solve our CB issues then Tom Naylor can be allowed to resume duties in CM thus allowing Mandeville to revert to a role he knows well.

Personally, I like the changed format of 4-1-4-1 which we seem to have been using during the injury crisis but if Madden gets fit then I would like to see him play a little deeper behind Pepple. As such Paddy would take up an attacking role in the four behind the one and be accompanied by Dobra. Naylor would play in the one in front of the back four.

As such, if Grigg is a minimum of 2 months away from a return I still think we need another lad to play up top to cover for Pepple. Rotherham only really took control of the game after Drummond moved central on Tuesday night because he cannot physically occupy the CBs he is up against.

DM has been excellent for us & hoping his stuttering career up to joining us really gets him to where he wants to be. He?s an extremely talented player & a class above League 2. Can?t knock him for pushing himself further a league above.

Again just goes to show Cookie can find a gem?.he will do it again, no doubt he will get a suitable quality replacement to replace him

He's already in the building. Fleck. That frees up Mandeville.

Pity he never on the pitch.

Joking aside he looked pedestrian in his 15 minutes against Horsham and hopeless in his 15 minutes in the EFL Trophy. He looked totally unfit. Do you think he is coming back fitter after his recent layoff. I'd love to think so , but.....

I suspect he'll feature on Saturday. No inside knowledge, just reading between the lines of the DW interview.

Disappointed to see such a quality performer as Dilan leave us, but very grateful for his contribution and he has the quality to be playing at a higher level than we are currently at.

We recalled Hobson and Drummond due to our injury crisis who have subsequently featured for us but to recall a player from an agreed season long loan (purely down to the performances he has put in) to loan him out again when someone dangles a bigger carrot has left a sour taste. I?m just too na?ve clearly

Fair point really. And Stoke recalled Lowe from Walsall as he was banging them in and it's understandable that Robins as a new manager in charge would want to see what he can do for himself. Dilan was happy here as well and he didn't want to leave as he didn't want to stall his development that was coming along nicely. For Dilan I don't want his new loan move to backfire, though it would serve Blackburn right if it did. Perhaps if this does happen we could pick him up again in the summer, though I accept I'm clutching a straws here. Good luck with your future Dilan, wherever that may lie. Once a Spireite, always a Spireite 💙🤍

He's now had months to get into some sort of shape.

Under one of the best managers in the country.

Yet he isn't even on the bench in a trophy game.

Fleck's either the squad's unluckiest player in terms of injury or there's an underlying issue.

I've written him off as an understandable dice roll that's failed...
