For those confused, this is the situation, as I understand it.

- He was signed on a season long loan, but Blackburn are his employer. As I understand it, they can do what they want in terms of asking him to report whenever they see fit, with an option to recall in January.
- He has gone back to Blackburn while they assess their options. He has NOT been officially recalled (yet).
- He will stay at Blackburn while they arrange a new loan deal for him (Orient).
- IF no new loan deal can be agreed, he'd return to us as he's still "on loan" with us, so it'd be easy.

Alan Nixon has also reported that he's signed for Orient so it'll be announced soon I expect.

He had 6 months with us, he was excellent and gave his all. I wish him nothing but the best. The saving grace is that it's not an area where we are short, so while he's certainly been one of our best performers, I don't think it's as devastating as if we had a Nathan Lowe on loan and were losing him, for example.

As I recall Villa wanted 40k. He was set to sign but DA wouldn't stump up the 40k as he was planning a fire sale. He ended up signing for PNE for 40k.

It was in the 40/50k ball park and that with the selling of Doyle was the beginning of the end for Cooks first spell here.

We don't have any other right siders, do we? Mandeville but he's doing well in the middle atm. Drummond but he's not a consistent performer at this level. I think we're struggling down the right and will need to bring someone in.

I agree. Berry or Colclough don't look so effective on the right and Mandeville might still be needed elsewhere. I suppose Drummond could do a job based on his 10 minutes in that position on Tuesday night and hasn't Banks and Jacobs played there on and off. So there are some options I suppose.

If we still have serious pretension of getting in the mix, which I believe manager and owners still have; best get a right sided player in. The sheer size of the squad and associated fitness doubts will be a problem though.

Markandays good but the whole hysterical nature of him I don?t get.

No1 had heard of him 6m ago.

He drifts in and out of games (albeit when he?s is in he creates)

Everyone needs to walk into a loan agreement with their eyes open.

My only fear is that they don?t increase it from 5->7->11 and we essentially all become development squads for the top two leagues.

Interesting podcast worth a listen with Rick parry if anyone?s interested talks about this very issue why the whole funding distribution model needs to be looked at.

Disagree....i'd seen him play for Blackburn previously! That aside i dont think you need to have known who he was prior to signing for us, you just have to have seen his performances for us since then to realise he will be a miss now we dont have him anymore.

I'd heard of him.

Re Drifting in and out of games, that's the nature of creative wide players. The game isn't always around them. As time has gone on and he's got used to regular football he's been as involved as practically possible and has improved as time has gone on.

I think Dilan had a few quiet games after an electric debut (Crewe? I think) and I wasn?t massively sold on the hype.
However in our struggles he?s pretty much been the one shining light for me. Carried the team on his back a lot through the last month and I?ve gone from thinking he was ?alright? to I?m hysterical and miss him already. Not ashamed.

As touched on above deffo think we need a right sider through the door if we are serious about going for it. Understandably difficult in January though.

It was a mistake not signing Johnson Chris. I'm certain that we would have made a profit out of him over and above his transfer fee and wages. I also have the feeling that we could do the same with Dilan and am sure the Kirks would probably financially back the signing, if it can be achieved within the FFP rules.

I would also guess the most we could offer wage wise would be £3k to £4k per week. Anything over that and I agree it would be out of our range...

It would be the best signing for a long time if we could pull it off though!

It's a weird one as Blackburn want him playing in a higher league yet according to Orient fans they will have six loanees and Dilan will then be one of four players competing for just three starting places in the team, so he's not even guaranteed to start, unlike if they'd left him here. Either way I wish him all the best and thank him for his efforts whilst on loan with us.

You'd expect him to be on at least that currently so think his requirements/demands salary wise would rule us out of a permanent deal even if he could be tempted from a football perspective.

I agree, I could take hime or leave him early on but since we been short on numbers he has really stepped up to the plate.

According to some, he was at the Orient game on Tuesday signing autographs

I?m not sure what he adds, can?t beat a man and doesn?t exactly put himself about much.

Not sure Jacobs has ever been the type of player that looks to go past players etc, his game was always more around good technical play and passing to put others or himself into good areas. Balls like sliding it in behind for Grigg etc and things like that.

Without a doubt, after seeing Drummond play wide for 15mins against Rotherham, that should be his preferred position from now on

The longer this Orient rumour drags on with no confirmation plus the situation with so many loan players there, Blackburn might just be thinking the amount of playing time might be limited. If he stays with us, he's more or less guaranteed starts
