Let's hope he is half as good as our last signing from Luton the great Rodney Fern all for the sum of 10k

Before my time. We've had players from Luton since though, Drew Talbot being the most obvious one.

Tanton going back would suggest he could be out for the season

Yes, you might be right.

Feel sorry for Tanton because fully fit he was very good and likely to improve further with games. Also, he counted as one of our U21 players and, as such, did not count towards our 22. Whilst Pebble brings our total loan players up to 5 he has to be counted in the 22.

I suspect once Cook has done his main business regarding recruitment he will turn his attention to outgoings with a view to deciding on the final squad makeup.

It seems that the local Rovers journalist has had a change of heart and is now stating that Markanday will be recalled and sent to Leyton Orient in League 1.

Apparently you will also sign Kyle McFadzean on a free from us this week too. He is not the tallest, or the fastest, but is a real warrior and organiser at centre back, and without him signing for us last winter during an injury crisis (on the same day we signed John Fleck who was an injury prone disaster) , Rovers would probably be in League 1 by now.

McFadzean will be 38 next month, and has hardly played for us this season due to the great form of others rather than him no longer being trusted, apparently he just wants to play and he is originally from your area, and I am sure will do a great job in League 2

I don't mind the odd older player or two for experience and to steady the ship, but please, not a 38 year old.

At this rate we might as well coax Stevie Norris out of retirement.

The final days of the transfer window will be full of double guessing especially with the size of the squad and all these long term injuries.

For instance if a player isn't expected to return until late March/April do you leave him out. I can think of a few that might fit that category.

Cook did not name 22 at the start of the season. If there are doubts about any player I suspect he will not initially name 22 this time round on the basis he might be able to recall a player loaned out or recruit a free agent etc.

He's not looked particularly well suited to playing the lone role. See him more in behind or as the option off the bench.

Cook has inferred that a couple of our players are out for the season. I have a feeling one of them is Dunkley and suspect the other to be Williams. I do not think he would be referring to Jones as his situation had been announced previously.

The signing of Donacien and, possibly, McFadzean would suggest this might be the case too.

I think you may be right. I do fear for Dunkley because neck injuries aren't nice and not easy to recover from fully. I do hope we see him again soon, but I fear it's longer term than we thought. If so I hope he comes back better and fitter for the next season.
Ty Williams has been very unlucky and I think he was playing his best football for us just before he was injured and was looking like Dunkley wouldn't be missed as much after all. He had one or two man of the match performances too. I feel sorry for him.

I agree, Madden is much better playing behind the striker although he hasn't had a real good run in either position becof injury. Let's hope he comes good when he's fit.

FA rules stipulate that any loan move must be agreed by all three parties. The parent club, the loaning club and the player.

Put yourself in his position though. He may not have WANTED to go per se, but if Blackburn said we're not sure about an extension, we need to see you at L1 level before we can decide then he would feel like he has no choice.

Blackburn are likely to extend regardless or they?ll lose the sale leverage if no one?s ready to purchase now.

Wishful thinking but not sure we?ve seen the last of Markanday even if he?s recalled this window.

I hope ure right Ernie but he's from London so that could go against us , without sounding greedy we still need another striker , really think this isn't a too strong league

I agree he hasn't look suited, but there's no way cook is starting an inexperienced youngster ahead of a seasoned pro if he's fit.

Surely that depends on how well that youngster does before the experienced pro becomes fully fit to play a role which does not fully bring out the best in him.

I expect Pepple to be the man. Even if not banging them in personally I anticipate his physicality to be well suited to the role.
