I might be in a minority of one, but all this talk of Cup football makes me wistful that we arent in the 3rd round this season. The possibility of a bit of giant killing, with no pressure, and the knowledge that coffers will be swelled.
Oh to be Accrington at Anfield, or Tamworth at home to Spurs or Bromley at Newcastle.

When was the last time we faced a top 5 Premiership/First Division in a cup comp? Can only think of Chelsea and Liverpool in the last 40/50 years.

We?ve never had much luck drawing these sides out against us sadly.

We haven't played a top division side at home since we were at Saltergate. That's a very poor record.

Stand to be corrected, but I have us since and including 1961, having played just two top division sides in the FA Cup at home, Blackburn in 1961 and Forest in 1997.

Can only remember Liverpool and West Ham up at Saltergate, plus Man City when they were crap before the Saudis took over.

Agree I?d love to see one of the big teams rack up to Sheffield Road.

Referring to the league cup by the way not FA Cup.

That's right. On the rare occasions we've made the 3rd round, the draw hasn't generally favoured us

If you're going from 1992 you missed Forest and in the League Cup run Charlton were Premier League.

Forgot about Charlton. Damn unlucky that night. They really did get away with that one.

It's been worth watching, if just for educational purposes, 2 examples of what a penalty is,

Taking great enjoyment from this, bit of a mini payback for the underserved point they stole up here back in August

Getting thumped 8-0 and then asking for shirts off City players - embarrassing

Only saw a few minutes but heard one of the commentary team saying how well the Salford fans had travelled? From Salford to the Etihad....?FFS.
Great effort from the Salford fans for travelling such a distance, they should be proud........ha ha ha!

Consistency out the window again for me tbh.

The hand ball, well his arm is down by Tilt's side so I can see why he's not happy. Wouldn't have been surprised to see it not given.
For the 2nd, I think the 100 million quid man Grealish should be doing better and actually scoring before drawing a foul for the peno. Seemed he'd rather draw the foul than score

Sheff Utd had 6000 in the cup at ?10 a ticket
Sunderland had 9000 (and had to close 2 stands) at ?12 a ticket

Sad times
