Or happily give a free kick against an attacker as soon as the corner is taken yet if an attacker is fouled they stop play and warn the defender.
Happens loads that fouls they would give 99/100 anywhere else on the pitch aren?t given as pens. Pundits and commentators saying it wasn?t enough of a foul to be a penalty. Why should it have to be more of a foul just cos it?s in the box. A foul is a foul not differing levels of foul because of where it takes place.

Happened a couple of times last night with Newcastle players against Arsenal.

Moreover, referees rarely dish out a card during these spats, even if a player is flung to the floor. Just because the ball isnt in play, doesnt mean disciplinary action cant be taken.

Even retrospectively for assault, a bit like tickling someone's belly button.
One that p.. alot of folk of is the directive that a player won't be flagged offside when clearly offside but in a foot race with the keeper until the race is over. If it's devised to keep the game flowing then that's totally hypocritical when you consider time keeping is an absolute joke.
Let refs, ref the game as they see fit and cut out all these stupid directives in the search for consistency, because all we have at the moment is consistent crap created by refs more concerned about their marks than contributing to a decent game of football.
And another trait that brings a smile, at a corner on the linesman quadrant, why do some linesman go into a crouching position, are their eyes better the lower they get?
Yorkshire is Yorkshire
Never the twain shall meet.

The linesmen don't come out it much better either. The amount of offside calls they get wrong is ridiculous on its own but when you add in all the other mistakes, then frankly they should all go back to school. The forth official, especially at our ground is only there to listen to Paul Cook kick off and get him booked, but they don't seem to do the same about the opposition bench.
All every fan wants to see is fairness and professionalism.

The standards have dropped because not enough people will give up their time just to be abused.
Shirt-pulling seems legal nowadays- something that would have been a foul all day a few years ago.
Refs need to stop managers coaching their players when the keeper has been instructed to go down (in the Conference especially).

Probably more would follow the route into refereeing if they saw utter professionalism from those already there. Those who are decent don't get abused so much, in fact I forget they're even there.
The shirt pulling and grabbing isn't even checked by refs it's pathetic.
I can't remember how many times I've seen the opposition management telling the goalie or centre half to drop as though shot. Refs should get a grip of it and book players while giving the opposition a free kick from the centre of the D. It would stop overnight. Refs bring things on themselves by being weak and others by thinking the game's about them.

Pretty much what I respond with when the 'how much abuse refs. get' argument arises. If a ref. is just crap,I want him to be crap for both teams, then I do not have much of a problem with that.It is the 'look at me and with my own rule book' types that get my abuse.
