It's certainly a strange juncture in the season to give him the boot. Why not sack him last week and allow the new manager to travel up with the team. Some chairmen are daft when it comes to sackings and appointments, and they reckon one manager got a job after performing an after dinner speech, makes your mind boggle.

Bearing in mind the quick announcement of his replacement i suspect the finalising of the deal for Coleman initiated the timing of the sacking.

Bit unfortunate, if he had played us he would have saved his job

Had a spell at Sligo Rovers before Accrington took him back.

Yes that's him, I actually spoke to him in town the other week, he was out with Gary Roberts.

He said he was attending our game the following day (Tranmere) I joked the vultures were circling because we'd lost a couple on the trot, he insisted this wasn't the case as Cookie was a mate.

Although Coleman is a few years older they're both from Kirkby so you'd imagine they've known each other for donkey's years. Coleman would have been his manager for 3 years too when he was finishing off his career at Accrington in Coleman's first spell.
