From the BBC:

Carlisle United have signed midfielder Will Patching from Irish side Derry City on a two-and-a-half-year contract.
The 26-year-old, who came up through the Manchester City academy system, is a former England youth international.
He has scored 35 goals in 130 appearances since initially joining Derry on loan in 2021 from League of Ireland Premier Division side Dundalk.
Patching also spent a season at Notts County following his release by Manchester City in the summer of 2018.

Strange move if you ask me, upper echelons of the LOI to the bottom of the EFL. More chance of playing European football with Derry than Carlisle.

No-one can sign anyone registered to another club before today, and if the FA have given their office staff NYD off, then no-one will be getting registered until tomorrow. The few that have been announced so far will have the usual "subject to approval by the FA & EFL" sticker attached.
It's nice to be able to Trust again.

Cheltenham have signed striker Ashley Hay from Premier League side Brentford on loan until the end of the season.
Hay, 21, joined the London club's academy in 2023 from non-league football and has scored 11 goals in 12 games for Brentford B side this season.
Robins manager Michael Flynn said that Hay was a "very good finisher".
"Myself and Gary have been watching him, he comes in having scored a lot of goals of late. At first he was playing out wide but he's got a lot of his goals through the middle," Flynn said.
"He's a very good finisher, his stats are really good in terms of his running ability so I'm looking forward to working with him."
Hay will be available for Cheltenham's match against Walsall on Saturday and is the second player to sign in the past two days, after defender Darragh Power on Tuesday.

Carlisle United have signed Blackpool midfielder Elliot Embleton on a three-and-a-half year deal.
The Cumbrians have picked up the ex-Sunderland man who only joined the Seasiders in the summer and made 23 appearances for the League One club.
Embleton, 25, is a former England youth international who spent seven years at the Stadium of Light, which included loan spells at Grimsby Town, Blackpool and Derby County.
He made 92 appearances for Sunderland and was a regular in the team that won promotion back to the Championship in 2021-22, scoring the opening goal in the 2-0 play-off final win over Wycombe Wanderers.

He would appear a decent signing.

Just seen this on the BBC posted 30 December.
Nelson Jardim says Bryn Morris' squad absence for Newport County's 2-0 loss at Walsall was not transfer related.
He is either a liar or the club have sold him above his head then.

Barrow have signed Spennymoor Town midfielder Isaac Fletcher for an undisclosed fee on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

The 22-year-old started his career with Middlesbrough and had loan spells with Hartlepool and Scunthorpe before joining the Moors in February last year.

He has scored 11 goals in 22 appearances for the National League North side this season.

Fletcher could make his debut for Stephen Clemence's side against Harrogate Town in League Two on Saturday.

A few years ago he was a decent player for Sunderland but had injury issues since and never quite reached those heights again as yet.

Carlisle are in a hole. A three and half year contract and a transfer fee is a roll of the dice for them!
