Carlisle United have signed midfielder Will Patching from Irish side Derry City on a two-and-a-half-year contract.
The 26-year-old, who came up through the Manchester City academy system, is a former England youth international.

Patching also spent a season at Notts County following his release by Manchester City in the summer of 2018.

Strange move if you ask me, upper echelons of the LOI to the bottom of the EFL. More chance of playing European football with Derry than Carlisle.

Hay, 21, joined the London club's academy in 2023 from non-league football and has scored 11 goals in 12 games for Brentford B side this season.
Robins manager Michael Flynn said that Hay was a "very good finisher".
"Myself and Gary have been watching him, he comes in having scored a lot of goals of late. At first he was playing out wide but he's got a lot of his goals through the middle," Flynn said.
"He's a very good finisher, his stats are really good in terms of his running ability so I'm looking forward to working with him."
Hay will be available for Cheltenham's match against Walsall on Saturday and is the second player to sign in the past two days, after defender Darragh Power on Tuesday.

The Cumbrians have picked up the ex-Sunderland man who only joined the Seasiders in the summer and made 23 appearances for the League One club.
Embleton, 25, is a former England youth international who spent seven years at the Stadium of Light, which included loan spells at Grimsby Town, Blackpool and Derby County.
He made 92 appearances for Sunderland and was a regular in the team that won promotion back to the Championship in 2021-22, scoring the opening goal in the 2-0 play-off final win over Wycombe Wanderers.

He would appear a decent signing.

Just seen this on the BBC posted 30 December.
Nelson Jardim says Bryn Morris' squad absence for Newport County's 2-0 loss at Walsall was not transfer related.
He is either a liar or the club have sold him above his head then.
